Since the new recommendation is rear facing for 2 years, I will have two RF seats for a while. Does anyone know of a car that you can still use the 3rd row if you have the 2 carseats in?
I have a GMC acadia now, but the 3rd row will be rendered useless. I do frequently have more than one passenger but don't want to put the carseats all the way in the back. I'm thinking I might have to go minivan???
Edit: Sorry about the multiple posts!
Re: car that you can use 3rd row w/2 rf carseats?
I have a 2009 Honda Pilot. We have a RF Britax Marathon Classic in the middle row, center seat. We also have a Chicco KeyFit30 RF on the driver's side of the middle row. This leaves the passenger side of the middle row available to access the 3rd row, which we do often. We often put 2 adults in the 3rd row, an adult in the passenger seat of the middle row with the two kids in car seats, and two adults in front. The key is to get both RF seats on the "60" portion of the 60/40 split, so they need to be narrow seats because they are only given a 30% portion of the row. In order for us to do that, we needed to purchase a new infant seat (we used to have the BabyTrend Flex Loc). Most of the Britax Marathon and Roundabout models will fit, but most convertible seats with integrated cup holders are too wide to do this, just FYI.
Hope this helps!
This can work for some; OP, make sure you check your owner's manual. Some vehicles/manufacturers say not to put a RF seat in the 3rd row (my vehicle is one of them).
Just curious, but why can't you put a car seat in each bucket seat and then go through the middle to get to the third row?
