Snaps: harder for baby to take off:), more durable
Hook and Loop: DH prefers, easier to get on a squirmy baby, not as durable as snaps over time, annoying if you forget to use the laundry tabs, you can get a better fit using hook and loop
I like the snaps better because they do better in the wash - velcro wears down. I like velcro because it gives a better fit - I'm anal about the snaps being even, which doesn't always give a good fit. I use both, I really can't decide which I like better.
We had all hook and loop till recently...some of my BG 3.0's just weren't holding up at all and the velcro just wasn't sticking. I ended up going on covertmydiapers.com and paid $3.75 a diaper to change over to the snaps. I like both. I can definitely say H&L are easier on younger babies while I like the snaps better for DS who is 1 year old because he is more active.

We have all snaps. Like several have already said, holds up better over time, no remembering to use the laundry tabs, baby can't remove themselves when they're bigger. I think h&l would definitely give a better fit, but I wouldn't say snaps provide a bad fit per se. For me the benefits of snaps outweigh the cons.
I prefer snaps. They are more secure and seem to wear far better. However, our stash is mostly aplix because our DCP can not seem to get a good fit with the snaps, and end up with leaks. It seems that for novice CDers who will be using the diapers, aplix is most like a disposable.
