Holistic OBGYN & Pediatrician Tampa - Help

Hello, I am looking for a natural birth friendly OBGYN in the Tampa area. I plan to use Labor of Love birth center for our 3rd, but they don't do routine GYN visits. I also am looking to wean off my PPD drugs and find a natural way to regulate my hormones.

I also am looking for a more natural approach pediatrician for my daughters that accepts insurance. We do vaccinate, but I would like a practice that encourages alternative medicine as well and doesn't treat us like numbers (AND make us wait an hour to see them!!).

Thanks for all the help!

Re: Holistic OBGYN & Pediatrician Tampa - Help

  • Hey there! I've been going to Tampa General Hospital since March & so far it's been a good experience with expressing my wants & beliefs with both the OB/Midwives & my son's pediatrician. I had a very difficult birth in Georgia with my son, and he suffered organ failure & brain damage, among other things. It was suggested to us by his physical therapist that we spread out his vaccinations so that his body wasn't overloaded with things to fight off & so his body could concentrate on healing his brain. When we explained all of this to his new pediatrician here at TGH (Dr. Knox), he was totally OK with it, completely understood, and was super supportive. I still had some ongoing concerns regarding my son's therapy & they weren't just brushed off & we weren't rushed through the appt. Dr. Knox spent a significant amount of time with us, and my son loved him.

As far as my OBGYN, TGH has midwives & OBGYN's. Our first experience with Midwife Pamela Kelly was pretty crappy & she seemed irritated that we brought our son along (plus she's hard of hearing o.O). Luckily there are SO many midwives that we got to try a couple more, and we absolutely love Brenda Marshall!!! She too knows of my son's birth, and was so great in calming my fears of having to give birth again and she got me more confident about having a natural birth with this child. She also explained that pretty much everyone in the office supports natural child birth, breastfeeding, etc. & that we should have a great experience when the baby's on his way! I also came across Jessica Bromley who is good, but she seemed a little new & not as personable as Brenda. I'm still OK with having to go with Jessica if Brenda's not available. Unfortunately, there's no guarantee as to who will deliver your baby, but regardless of that, I've become comfortable & confident in TGH & their staff.
