TMI alert. DD has been constipated, and had some hard stools lately. Quite a few of the smaller, formed ones and not the soft, all over the diaper ones.
Pedi suggested 1/2 oz of apple juice in a bottle. (Not diluted, as the natural sugars in the pure juice are what help move things along).
We gave her some for the first time yesterday before dinner - I gave her probably 1/3 of an ounce in a bottle. She ate dinner like usual, had her bath, jammies, etc, then nursed like usual. After she finished nursing she sat up and was clearly uncomfortable so I thought she just needed to burp. I had her on my lap, patting her back and then she just threw up a TON. It was mostly her dinner (she'd had apples, pears and carrots so I could see it), and a lot of it was clear. I didn't see much BM at all, which was weird since that was what she had just eaten.
Has anyone else had this happen? Should we just try prune or pear juice next time, instead? Or do you think the sugars in the juice were just too much for her tummy and we should avoid juices all together for awhile?
Re: Apple Juice = throw up?
We were told to dilute the juice but the first time Molls had apple juice she spit it up.
She does fine with it now.
