We buy formula at BJs. I've used the enfamil checks there before with no issue. This weekend I went with 4 checks (2 $5 and 2 $4, totalling $18). I got to the register and gave the checks to the cashier. She said she has never seen them before. I explained that they were checks from the manufacturer and I've used them here before. She called over her supervisor to ask how to ring them in. She said she had tried to scan them as coupons, but it didn't work. He said they aren't coupons, they are checks and showed her to ring them in as travellers checks and then there was an exception code for manufacturer checks in the system. He questioned the name on the checks and asked for ID (which I know is legit, but they were in my hubby's name) I showed him that it matched the name on my BJs card and both our names were on the debit card account i'd be using to pay (I was starting to get annoyed at this point.) Then he asked me if I bought 4 packs. I said, no, just one box (which is 3 packs in 1 box.) He told me I could only use one check. I told him that it didn't say that on the check and that I had used multiples here before (for just one box). Then he says it's not the manufacturers policy, it's their policy. I questioned it and he said they recently changed their coupon policy and are being more strict about it. I was fuming. I reminded him that he had JUST SAID to the cashier that these are not coupons and are to be entered as checks. He insisted he could only use 1. I asked for a manager and he said he was the only supervisor on the floor. If I wanted to, I could wait for a manager to come from the office to see if they would approve it. I said i'd wait. Then he pulls out a deal... "tellyawhatimgonnado" kinda thing... he said I could use the 2 $5 ones THIS TIME since they expire soon. I agreed becuase I really didn't feel like waiting and I know i'll need more in a couple weeks... but now that I think about it I'm mad again. Does this sound reasonable?
I figured i'd vent. Thanks for listening
Re: formula checks at BJs
At my BJs it depends on who is ringing. Sometimes I can use 4 or 5 checks for 1 or 2 packages, sometimes not. The policy is generally one check per package though.
Well I know with my Similac checks they specifically say that you can only use one per purchase. So I have to ring things up separately at times. But if they have recently changed their policy, I would probably just call at another time & speak to the manager to verify the accuracy so this won't happen again.
