Sooooo my MW told me to start kick counts yesterday. I had an NST which showed I was having a few contractions that I didn't know about and she did an internal and told me I was 1cm dilated. Between those two surprising pieces of info, I think I totally spaced out on the details. Especially when she mentioned if he's not moving too much to have some juice and we had a laugh over that since I have GD and juice is not my friend.
So am I supposed to do it once a day? He is really active and always has been so its not like we have any worries in that department. How many/how long am I supposed to count? Gosh I should have just paid attention the first time. ![]()
Re: Kick counts
aaahhh, so exiting to see how far along you are! i'm so happy for you
i think the rule of thumb is you want to feel 10 kicks/swooshes/movements of any kind in an hour. if you don't, have glass of OJ or something sweet and cold and lay on your side. if another hour goes by without enough kicks, call your doctor.
i do it every day just to get used to it. but if you feel him move regularly and aren't worried, then i would only do it if you noticed a sudden change in his activity level.
Thanks Nicole it is crazy how fast this is going!! I can't believe how fast your pg and some others are going too!
I thought that is what she said, but wasn't positive. I figured some of you ladies would probably know instead of me calling her back like an idiot.
