We want to use my grandmother's name Ann for the middle name of our LO. However, we prefer the spelling with an E (Anne). Is it ok to honor my grandmother but add an E to the end? Or does that kind of defeat the purpose?
TIA

Re: Question about Ann/Anne- ETA Clicky
Ever since my Anne of Green Gables phase I've preferred Anne to Ann.
I think you will be honoring your grandma with or without the E.
I think since it's the middle name, I would spell it the same as your grandma. If it was a first name, I could see changing the spelling to the one you like (as long as it was a legitimate spelling), because you would see it written out a LOT more often.
Actually, I've always thought Anne looked like more of a first name, and Ann looked more like a middle name.
I agree with all of this. I considered the name Eleanor, but DH's grandma spelled it Elinor. I would have changed the spelling there because 1) it would have been a first name and 2) although Elinor is an accepted spelling, it's not very common and would have caused our baby frustration throughout her life (having to correct people)

My moms middle name is Anne and she gave me the middle name Ann so we would match but still be different. I kinda wanna do the thing with my own kid if I have a girl
I don't think it's horrible to add an E, it's still an honour and people will still get it!

Print out A-N-N and that looks absolutely dreadful, but Anne with an E is quite distinguished
I'm a big AOGG fan- so my choice is Anne.
