Fairfax OBGYN

Hello DC. I am seven weeks pregnant with my first.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I am new to the bump :)

I am currently seeing doctors at Fairfax OBGYN (been in for a couple blood tests).  Does anyone have experiences with them you would care to share? Any favorite (not so favorite) doctors? Any advice?

Thanks!

Re: Fairfax OBGYN

  • Congrats on your pregnancy! I used FFX Obgyn with my first and am using them for my second. What keeps me there is their midwives...love them and I'm planning for a natural childbirth again, so the midwives are important to me. With my first pregnancy they were fine, some doctors are a bit 'warmer' than others. This time around, not the doctors' fault, but I've had numerous scheduling issues where they would call me, sometimes an hour or two before my appt., to reschedule. I've spoken to the office manager and they assured me they were addressing this. Since then it hasn't happened again.

I've heard very good things about Greenbriar Obgyn, but don't have any direct experience with them.

  • Their midwives are nice but they are not always available 24/7 like doctors. I used to be a patient at Fairfax Ob/Gyn but I left. I had a very bad experience. One bad weekend I fell and I went to the ER at Fair Oaks Hospital with bleeding and contractions and was admitted. I was at 25 weeks in my pregnancy. The hospital staff contacted Fairfax Ob/Gyn after hours line but none of their doctors showed up until many hours later. My family was waiting and was worried. Finally a doctor for their group, Dr Solos, showed up but she was dismissive and rude to me. She behaved like she couldn't be bothered with my problem and that she would rather be somewhere else like in a night club. When my contractions and bleeding stopped and the tests showed my baby was okay I was discharged a day later. I followed up with Dr. Wilson later in the week. That was another mistake. Dr. Wilson was just as bad as Dr. Solos. When I asked her a medical question concerning my worries she became indignant like I was questioning her medical knowledge. What is her problem? When I went to complain to Fair Oaks hospital and document my concerns with a nurse that was taking care of me, I was told privately that Fairfax Ob/Gyn was a dysfunctional practice and I was better off having my care elsewhere. Dr. Wilson is the only woman doctor remaining in this practice. Fairfax Ob/Gyn had two female doctors leave including my favorite doctor, but they would not tell me that she left or where she went. Apparently these doctors were well liked by the hospital OB staff and their patients. I found out later that Dr. Solos is not an employee of Fairfax Ob/Gyn but she has her own practice. Dr. Solos was covering for them since the owners of Fairfax Ob/Gyn do not work on weekends. I wish you the best of luck in your pregnancy.
