Newbie---hopefully :-)

Hi ladies,I am new to your group due to my news today...Had my first u/s today and it revealed twins!!! I am excited, shocked, scared...They both had strong heart beats 137 & 132, but one sac was smaller than the other.  This is what concerns me :-(  I have to come back next nxt wk (Mon) for another u/s to monitor the little guy. Dr says not out of woods; only 6wks.So, should I be worried? I have had no spotting, I am sick-as-a-dog, & my dr says everything "down-there" looks good... Just wanted some words of comfort :-)  Thanks :-)

  • Well congrats. You will be fine. With twins they always tend to double check things and to make sure every little-big things are ok.Its normal. Best wishes & welcome abroad. :)
  • Congrats!! On my first ultrasound, one was measuring smaller than the other as well. It all seemed to even out though in the next few weeks. Hope that is the case with you as well!

  • Congrats!  At my first ultrasound one of the sacs was measuring small as well.  Everything evened out though.  Good luck!

  • My little lady measured significantly smaller than my little man.  She actually caught up and surpassed him according to the u/s but, in the end she was my shrimp.

Landry was born at 4.2 lbs and Hudson, 5.9-they were born 3 hours short of 35 wks.

It's okay if one measures a little behind...Congrats, welcome and keep us posted.

Ditto this! One had a distinctively slower heartbeat, at 5w6d we thought, "Hey maybe it's a boy and a girl?" Sure enough!

  • Welcome!

Focus instead on the fact that you're getting extra monitoring - that's always a good thing!  One of mine measured a couple days behind also- it just happens.

    Congratulations.

  • Congrats! If I remember correctly, one of mine was smaller at first, and its heartbeat was slower, but it was fine; my RE explained it as all babies have different heartbeat speeds, I am just able to do a direct comparison.
