Mat ideas for under high chair

Our highchairs are in the kitchen, which has hard wood floors, and the floor always looks disgusting under the girls' chairs. I would like some sort of mat to put under their chairs so I can just take it out and shake it off.

I looked on the BRU website and the mats they had were Disney Princess or Thomas the Train... I would like some aspect of my house not to be decorated in cartoons, so I was just wondering what kind of mat you ladies use.

If you use a mat, where did you get it. If you have created some mat alternative I would love to hear about it.

TIA

Re: Mat ideas for under high chair

  • I posted about this the other day and 2 ideas were: looking at Home Depot/Lowes for plastic mats, or a shower curtain liner cut up. HTH!
  • caden you forgot the best idea- just get a dog :) lol

we never have to clean up food off the floor - we have 2 dogs - we call them the "clean-up crew" :)

I used to be Goldie_locks_5 but the new nest is so screwed up that I was forced to start over.

  • BRU also has a clear one in the store as well.  We got a vinyl tablecloth to use when we start doing solids... we'll see how that goes.

  • Like a pp mentioned, I use a shower curtain liner under their chairs.  I buy the PVC free PEVA liners from WalMart for about $2.  They don't have that strong smell and because they're so cheap, I don't mind buying new ones if the old ones get very stained.

  • We have clear circular ones from BBRUS.  I thought they were a great idea, but they are even more disgusting than the floor was, and so much harder to clean.  I am just putting them out on the deck to eat when it isn't too hot!

  • Also, we got the tommee tippe (sp?) silicon bibs with a big pocket.  They catch SO much food that would have otherwise hit the floor.

  • Awesome advice from everyone! I'm liking the shower curtain idea, and the big pocket bibs!

Although, a dog would probably do a better job!

Now, to find a way to get them to stop mushing food in their hair...

We used the circular clear ones from BRU, shower curtain liners, and currently I have a vinyl tablecloth.  The tablecloth is my favorite because our table in on an area rug and the back of the tablecloth is a little fuzzy so it helps it stay in place.
