Anyone else with abdominal scar tissue?

Hello ladies,

As I've started to finally get a bigger bump in the past week (still only visible to myself and DH), I've been annoyed by this constant ... sensation ... near my sternum and belly button.  Definitely way to high up to be the uterus.  It's really hard for me to describe the sensation... it's like a burning or tightness.  Kind of like when you have a muscle twitch, but constant.

I had my gallbladder out in 4/2010, so I have scar tissue around my belly button and near my sternum, so I wonder if I am feeling that tissue moving around as organs are being pushed around my abdominal cavity.  Has anyone else had this issue? And if you have... is there anything that can be done for it?  It's not painful enough to warrant Tylenol, but it's just driving me crazy.

It's probably not helping that I'm super tired (despite the 10 hours of sleep I got last night), so I'm not feeling as "go with the flow" as I usually do.

Thanks for your help!

  • I had my appendix out years ago, but I haven't been dealing with this sensation at all, at least not yet. Sorry I can't help but I hope you feel better!

  • I am having the same reaction! From my gallbladder removal 1/2011 I have one scar at my belly button then a couple on the right side.
At random points of all this "internal growth" I've felt random pinching pains at those points and now once in a while I get an uncomfortable feeling at the belly button site (the scar that turned keloid).
The only way to help scar tissue below the surface is to always be rubbing it- supposedly it helps break down the scar tissue (although this is what is suggested when the scar is fresh, not older). I don't know about you but I can't do this very much without making my swollen belly feel even more uncomfortable. I only do it when it's acting up.

If you ever find a cure let me know lol

  • I'm glad to know I'm not the only one feeling this - although I never got the information about rubbing the scar when it was fresh!  I'll start rubbing it as much as I can now... hopefully it will help some.

    Thanks for your help!

  • I had an abdominal surgery 1/2010 and have definitely felt random pinches and pulls where the scar tissue is.  I actually used to even notice it around the time I ovulated.  I know, bizarre...

I am just over 16 weeks and it hasn't happened recently but moreso early on.  It's never been painful, just a strange feeling.
