Freaking out. So much to do and not at all ready

I don't know how this happened, but we're having J's second birthday this weekend AND having B baptized.

Family is flying in/taking the train up and we're supposed to be throwing a party.  I say "supposed to be" because we've done nothing to prepare.

The house is a wreck, so we need to clean from top to bottom.  Plan the menu, go shopping, make J's cake, buy J a gift, make sure the baptism outfit J wore will fit B, and turn in the Baptism paperwork and hope they'll let it slide that we don't have proof yet that the godparents are Catholic.

Oh, and I need to figure out what my chubby butt should wear.

Feck.

  • Good luck with all that?! When does the company start arriving?

  • ok--call a cleaning person, go to sam's, costco or some other place that does big trays of stuff or a restaurant that does big takeout items (tray of ziti, etc).

we didn't need proof that S's godparents were catholic. they took them at their word.

    order J a b-day gift online today.?

do you have to make the cake or can you order that too??

  • Wow! That is a lot for one weekend. I second Minna's advice. Good Luck!!! And you are SO not chubby!
  • Whew, yeah, that's a lot. First just breathe and figure out what absolutely must be done. B will still get baptized if your house isn't clean, but he won't be if you don't turn the paperwork in, KWIM?

GL! You've got a lot on your plate but take it one thing at a time and you'll get it done. And feel free to come on here and freak out when you need to. Smile

  • I seriously lurve you guys.

I think I will call a cleaning lady.

And I'll have H turn in the paperwork today.

Well, tomorrow because the office closes at 3 and no one is here and the kids are napping.

As for the cake....H wants to make it because I bought him those train cake pans from W&S last year so he's been dying to use them.  Er, maybe I should a train cake as back up.

  • I'd order a backup train cake.  What's the worst that can happen... you have too much cake and have to throw some away.  Oh well, better than no cake right?  Definitely go to Costco and get the trays.  They're pretty good and reasonable price wise.  Good luck.

  • Take one step at a time. Cheat when you can, order food or least order the cake for the birthdya and the baptism.

    Good luck!

  • We had to have proof as well.  IN fact they wouldn't let my sister be the Godparent since she couldn't prove she was Catholic.  We still named her as the GodParent though even if they wouldn't put it on paper.  Good luck getting everything done!!

  • Take your list and reverse it - I think that will help prioritize it a bit.  I love all of the pp's ideas.  That will help you to relax a bit.
