What should we do with this smash cake?

Ugh, this weekend started out to be the weekend from heck! DH and I got into a big fight Friday night, we missed out photo shoot on Saturday morning with Libby and we got into another big fight on Saturday night. I'd bought a smash cake from whole foods for the photo shoot and picked it up on Friday night. I just put it in the freezer thinking we'd take it out Saturday morning. Since we missed our pictures it's still in the freezer. Do you think we should just eat it or save it for Saturday for his party? We were just going to give him a chocolate cupcake before we had this extra cake. Should I take it out and wrap it and then freeze/fridge it again?

  • Def use it for the party. I would leave it in the freezer until the day of the party. Then put it in the fridge to let it thaw. Depending on what type if icing they used, you may have some color leaking, but it will taste good.
  • are you rescheduling the shoot?  if so, use it then.  even if it's in a couple of weeks, they'll still be his birthday pictures and it doesn't matter if it's a few weeks from his actual birthday!

It's not for another month Crying. I can't imagine it would still taste good after that long with no wrap around it.

  • Enjoy the cake as dessert after your make-up dinner, then buy another cake for the photoshoot in a month.  If you're spending the money for a good photoshoot, then you might as well have a fresh cake.

Sorry you had a bad weekend.

  • I say with as rough of a sounding weekend as ya'll had to go ahead and eat the cake with a few glasses of wine and try and relax.  Sorry you had such a rough weekend.  Hopefully your week goes a little better.  I can't believe Jack's going to be 1!
