S/O Learning to tie shoes. Left hand vs. right?

DD is almost seven and still doesn't know how to tie her shoes. The problem seems to be that I'm left handed and she's right handed, so we both get pretty frustrated with the whole process. We've tried the books that have the shoe laces, but with no success.

We have one week before she starts second grade and would like to have it tackled by then. Any suggestions? My parents are left handed too, so having them teach her hasn't worked either.

  • Do you think you could learn to do it left handed and then break it down for her?

  • I hope you get some good advice! Nate is left handed and he is the only one in my family. I am dreading the day when I have to figure out how to teach him this.

  • I had no idea lefties and righties tie shoes differently, but it would explain a lot about the frustrations we've had here with the left-handed twins trying to learn from their right-handed parents.
