Temp question

I woke with a very sore throat and a temp of 101.5. Called the E.R. just to see if I needed to come in, they sent me to O.B. and O.B. said to call my doctor when they open. They don't open for another hour, and I have taken Tylenol but the temp keeps rising. Any ideas ladies?

Re: Temp question

  • For right now, until you talk to the dr. the most important thing is to stay hydrated. It can cause problems if you become dehydrated from the fever. Which can happen very quickly. Keep us updated.

  • Did you let your O.B. know how long it would be until your doctor's office opened? I know a lot of times they want you to go to your regular doctor so you don't get other pregnant patients or babies sick. If your O.B. didn't tell you to go right in and get checked or seem too concerned, I'd just try to get some rest until your doctor's office opens, then get the earliest appointment possible. I hope you get feeling better!

  • Thanks ladies. I have been trying to drink lots. About as soon as I get it down, it comes right back up, this is a new discovery in the last 20 minutes.

Oh, to clarify, I didn't speak with my OB, I spoke with the OB department at the hospital. They want me to call my OB when they open. Sorry for the confusion.

  • Your OB might have an answering service out of hours; did you try calling the office anyway?

If they don't, definitely a thing to ask when you CAN finally talk to them -- how to get ahold of them outside of their normal business hours!

  • IF your temp keeps rising, stick bags of ice in your armpits.  (Wrap them in a dishtowel so you don't freeze) I know it sounds strange, but we do it in the hospital when people get high temps.
