I was put on lexapro and xanax a week ago and was told to take them at night. I have been, but I don't feel any better during the day. What time do you take lexapro for those on it?

I take it first thing in the morning. My OB said that it didn't matter what time of day I take it, as long as I take it around the same time every day.

The xanax is a fast acting drug mostly taken for anxiety and or panic attacks. It kicks in not too long after you take it and the effects only last a couple of hours...most likely it's worn off by the time you wake up.
Lexapro is an antidepressant that can also help manage anxiety. This drug takes much longer to take effect. I believe it takes 4- 6 weeks to feel the full effects of the medication...so if you've only been on it a week, you may not feel any different right now. It's a slow, gradual change in your mood. If by 6 weeks you feel no different go see your Dr. again. He might need to up the dosage or try another medication.

No problem! I've had anxiety and depression on and off my whole life...it wasn't until last summer that I started taking lexapro and occasionally xanax for anxiety. The lexapro was really great....it started to kick in a couple weeks after taking it. For years I had been terrified to take any medication at all - would I get addicted? Would I feel totally out of it? Will it make me gain weight? Will it take away my sex drive?
I can honestly tell you that from my experience, none of these ill effects happened to me. I felt like a better version of myself... so stay positive! I also started out on 10 mg and worked up to 20mg which was best for me.
The only reason I'm not on lex right now is bc when I got my BFP in April, the Dr. switched me to zoloft. It's alright, but lexapro worked so much better for me. Feel free to msg or PM me!

Sounds good! Everyone who has been on Lexapro says good things about it, so I'm happy that I was put on that. Congrats on your LO!

this. can i ask you - are you BFing? i need to ask my dr at my next appt, but wondering if your dr gave you the green light.
i've been on lexapro for years too, and it really has helped me so much. i will warn, however, that when i've tried to go off the drug, it is VERY difficult. i dont think i'll every be able to go off of it, the withdrawal symptoms are too awful for me, no matter how slow I taper off. i just figure it's something i will be on the rest of my life - which i'm now ok with. I'm a much more stable person with it.
