Cloth Diapering

diaper rash help!

My little guy (2 weeks old) has diaper rash :( boo!! DS #1 NEVER had it... even with disposables, but DS #2 has a super red bum using only cloth diapers.  Any thoughts on what might be the cause?  We are washing with Rockin Green and using cloth wipes with just water in the warmer.  I'm at a loss, and want to fix the problem - not just treat the symptoms.

As far as the treatment goes - anyone have luck with coconut oil? I've read that it is okay to use with CD, but wasn't positive.

Thanks!

Re: diaper rash help!

  • My first thought was sensitivity to rng. We use cj's butter for rashes.

  • My son had a terrible rash when I used RNG.  This was their old formula, a few weeks after I bought it they had massive, massive recalls.

  • I will stop by Cotton Babies tomorrow and pick up something else to wash with... worth a try, for sure! Thanks for the tip :)

I'm just going to throw out all of my ideas and you can see what fits. He might be sensitive to the RnG. Or he might need a stay-dry material as he is sensitive to the wet feeling of cotton. Or the wipes warmer could be growing yeast. Or he could be sensitive to suedecloth inners like in BG dipes.
