Pregnant after IF

Pregnancy after Lupron?

Hi, I am new to this board :)  ...I posted this question on the "getting pregnant" board over on the nest and someone referred me over here to get more advice, as some of you ladies may be (or have been) in this situation as well...

Anyway, I am currently on the 3 month Lupron Depot injections to treat endometriosis.  My first injection was in March 2011, and my last one was June 2011.  I have a follow-up appointment in September and I will more than likely NOT be getting another injection, as my Dr. thinks that 6 months should be long enough to treat the endometriosis for now.

So, in September I will either have the option to start BCP's again or start TTC.  We would like to start TTC in the next year or two anyway, so I am wondering how long it took any of you to conceive that may have been in a similar situation?  I know everyone is different, but I don't want to put off TTC if it could end up taking awhile if we end up having problems due to the endo.  I'm almost 28 years old and have been married for just about 2 years, and in a perfect world I would like to have my first child by the time I'm 30, but I know so many people that have had infertility problems, so it worries me that I might too, especially since I have endo :(

Any advice or stories on your experiences would be very much appreciated!  Thanks ladies! :)

Re: Pregnancy after Lupron?

  • I haven't personally been in this situation but one of my friends has. She had a 17cm endometrioma removed and was put on lupron depot for 6 months. They started trying last June and just found out a week ago she's pregnant (naturally). So it did take a little over a year, but she's 5 weeks now with no intervention :) Good luck!

That is great news! I'm probably jumping the gun here getting all nervous when we haven't really even started TTC, but I have just heard so many bad things about endo and now that I have it, it just makes me nervous! DH is still alittle nervous about the thought of having a baby, as am I since it's such a life changing thing, but I'm hoping I can talk him into starting TTC in Sept/Oct once I'm done with the lupron. (sorry so long.. I'm just alittle excited about possibly getting this show on the road soon!). :)

  • Thank you! I'm glad I had a story that could help you. My friend didn't even know she had endo until they found this.. ridiculously large endometrioma. Here she is now 5.5 weeks pregnant! It's so awesome.

That's crazy, but I am glad that everything turned out okay for her in the end!  I also noticed that you guys are close in your pregnancies...her at 5.5 wks and you at 8!  That would be fun to have a friend going through it all at the same time with you!  Very exciting! :)
