Has anyone's child had a fever after the MMR vaccine? My older two did fine, but my youngest has a high fever and is generally miserable feeling. I took her to the dr where her ears, nose, and throat looked good. He dismissed the idea that the fever was caused by the vaccine, though, because she had the shot 9 days ago. I thought a rxn could show 7-12 days after the shot? Any advice on this--I want her to feel better soon!

I'm sorry, your screen name has "nurse" in it. I'm just wondering if you're really a nurse, and if so...do you actually think that tylenol will keep your child from getting Autism?
Our pedi told us it was normal for them to get a fever and/or a small rash from the vaccine 1- 1 1/2 weeks after you get it. My son never did, but it sounds normal to me.
The tylenol keeps the fever away, therefor they are not fevering after the vaccine. One of the "possible" links to autism in regards to vaccines is the combination of fevers at the time of administration and for the days following. BTW, I'm not a pediatric nurse, I was merely trying to share my personal experience.

Show us in the AAP where that is said or mentioned please. Or better yet show us statistics to back up this idiotic correlation please.
Mmm well I have read all the research, I've worked in the field for several years and I am not trying to be mean. I just don't like when people say things like this, because it spreads misinformation and fear. The "link" if there ever was one, had very little to do with fevers and more to do with the chemical exposure to mercury. But no link has ever been established. Tylenol in fact is very bad for developing kidneys and livers. Yes give it to ward off a fever, but giving it every six hours (Max dose) over three days is not something most pedis would recommend unless it was absolutely needed. I asked if you were a nurse, because I was truly interested in a medical professional having that view. And your screen name does say "Nurse" what else would I assume?
