    DD has a Kettler, in pink & purple. She uses it now without the long bar for parent steering.

    Harmon was 2 1/2 when we were getting him a trike and my friends told me: don't get a trike but get a real bike with training wheels.  So we got him a Huffy Bike with training wheels and he does great on it.  He has been riding it for 9 months.  This winter we might consider taking off the training wheels :p  

    So I say GET A BIKE!  My little twins have Radio Flyer Trikes that they love so if you want a trike I would go with that brand.

    We have this one and really like it.  My DD is a shortie so it was awhile before she was tall enough to reach the pedals.  I like that is isn't all plastic and seems very sturdy.

    We got him the Kettler trike with the push bar when he was just over 2, and loved it.  Now he's almost 4, and still rides it every day.  (no pushbar now),.  This one was nice because it has GREAT adjustability to grow with them, and requires all of about 5 seconds to expand it when he grows in size.  The pushbar feature was a must for us too, as he didn't pedal all that well for the first 9 months or so he had it.  Now he's a pro. 

     If I had it to do over, I probably would do the same thing, although I'd also give some serious thought to doing a balance bike in addition/instead of the trike--friends of mine who got a balance bike (no pedals) instead of a trike have 4 year olds who can already ride a bike without training wheels.
