  • Though one but I think you are doing the right thing. Inside babies are waaaay easier and don't require any stuff. We did a 9 hour flight when I was 5 mo pregnant and I was uncomfortable but less stressed caring for only one baby. Then we moved across country (20 hr drive) when I was 6 months. Again only one baby to think about is easier.

  • Absolutely do it before. I can't imagine prepping a move and then actually moving right now. Some days I have trouble finding time to pee. FWIW, we moved (though not to a new country) about three months before LO #2 was born and it was no biggie. GL!
  • Before the 2nd is born...I don't like the fact that it is recycled air that you have to breathe in on planes. My sister and husband took their 1.5 yo on a plane trip and he caught something, but they didn't find out until he had a seizure in the car on a long roadtrip not too long after that! Scary!

  • Thanks everyone! This makes me feel much better about the decision! I was pretty sure I was making the right decision solely based on comfort and the babies...

It was more about the financial reasons that I started to doubt the earlier move: we wont' have insurance when we give birth, I won't be getting maternity leave, which I would get for 14 weeks here, and I won't be able to work for at least 5 months after we move because of the new baby... but I'm hoping that the great employment opportunity my husband has will make up for these things!

Anyway, thanks for the input ladies!

I think you are making the right decision. I dont know your financials, but Im sure you will be fine. Cutting corners will be hard, but with two little ones you dont need to go to expensive places to play or eat out much (its hard to!) I think you'll be great ;)

  • Make it easier on yourself and move with only one kid, get settled and then have the baby :)

  • I'd say move before the baby comes.  Get all the adjustments out of the way before your LO has to adjust to a new baby.  For context:

We moved overseas when I was 20 weeks pg with #2 and DD1 was 8 months old.  I went back to the States to have DD2.  I had to fly alone with DD1 (she was 11 months) while 7 months pregnant.  Then we flew back home (with DH who had come for the birth) when DD1 was 14 months and DD2 was 2 months.  10-hour transatlantic flight.  Flying with kids sucks no matter what, but it's over in 24 hours so I wouldn't let that be the deciding factor for you.  It will probably be easier to pack all your stuff while pregnant than while dealing with a newborn, too, so that's another vote for earlier.  Good luck!

  • You are making the right decission. The first few weeks with Two under 2 were just insane for me!

Plus, most pediatricians prefer that newborns dont take long plane rides until they've had at least some of their shots.
