My child will not wear sweatpants/ other gym or sport specific clothes (i dont mean jerseys or t shirts with logos) in public. Especially not to church!! My cousins wear these everywhere and though they dont have holes in them out stains I think it is so trashy and inappropriate! The oldest is 22 and still thinks this if ok.
Also my child will not be a red sox fan!
My child will not be the kid that carries around their Nintendo DS everywhere they go with their nose in it.
My kid will not wear a hoodie with the hood up indoors.
My kid will not have the newest stupid haircut that makes me look like a mom that apparently has no control over her child. I don't care how old he/she is.
My child will be allowed to try any and all activities and hobbies their heart desires. If she wants to try gymnastics, singing lessons, or football; she has her parents 100% support.
Other than behavioral issues, she'll be allowed to do a lot of the things everyone is so against, but in moderation. If she has a favorite tv show, she can watch it. If she has an absolute favorite shirt or dress, she can wear it as much and as often as she wants.
I will pick my battles.
Now when she's a teenager, that's a whole different ballgame.
My child will not be allowed to run wild and act like they own restaurants, stores, etc. If they misbehave in public, they will be reprimanded.
My kids will not be handed just any old cell phone. They will have a phone for emergencies with specific numbers programmed. They will not have texting.
I will not dress my little girls like hoochies. Sadly, it's hard to find stuff at some stores (have you walked through the girls department at Target? ), but I will find whatever I can to make sure they are modestly dressed. DH already has lists of things they will not be allowed to wear as teenagers.
They will learn to respect people. They are already learning to say "Yes, sir" and "Yes, ma'am." I can't believe the way some kids talk to their parents or any other adults!
They will not be allowed to spend hours in front of electronic devices. They will have strict limits unless it's school-related. All computer use will be in a main area of the house where we can see exactly what they are doing. No social networking sites for a very very long time. Why does a 10 year old need a facebook site?
ETA: My son will learn to take his hat off in buildings. My kids will offer their seat and sit on the floor at family gatherings so an adult can sit.
And one that I think was lost somewhere on our generation-they will learn that when a flag is carried by in a parade or procession, they will stand up and show the proper respect. I remember a story that was read at a Memorial Day parade when I was in high school, and it has stuck with me. I also have them thank soldiers when we see them.
Will your raise my kids too?? I agree with all of this!!
My child will not be a bully (I hope not anyways and I am going to do everything I possibly can to prevent it!) He or she will also not be cruel to animals! I could go on and on, but most of the other stuff has been posted numerous times already.
Oh and according to my DH if we have a daughter, she will not wear those big flower headbandsows. (Even if I secretly think they are kind of cute!)

My child will not be allowed to sit and poke at a smart phone when we are with company. My niece AND her mother do this the whole time we are together. It is so rude! They don't even speak...they just sit there and poke away and occasionally whisper to each other.
My kid will also know to SHUT UP in a movie theater.
My child will NOT be spoiled with money and materialistic things, he will earn them through behavior and actions. My child WILL be spoiled with love
This is what I'm hoping for my kid, too. Everything else seems a little silly to declare. You can try and limit junk food and technology, but kids will always find a way around it. I just hope to do a good enough parenting job to instill manners and morals.
This exactly! Our children will have manners and morals; all of these other rigid rules are a bit funny to me.
Re: My child will not....GTKY
My son will know the meaning of the phrase "actions have consequences" well before he enters school.
He will also learn that whining, begging, etc. will get him exactly the opposite of what he wants.
May Siggy Challenge: TV mom

Fastest year of my life.

((Boy))
Will not be rude or disrespectful to others.
Make fun of other children.
Refuse to eat if it isn't PBJ or chicken nuggets (my nephew does that)
This exactly! Our children will have manners and morals; all of these other rigid rules are a bit funny to me.
~suck on a paci after the age of one
~ride in a stroller when he is so big his feet almost drag
~think chicken fingers and french fries are every day foods
My child will not
...be the screaming baby at the restauraunt. If she can't sit quietly and play, then we'll be taking our order to go, thank you.
...be using a pacifier OR be breastfed (flame away) once she's old enough to ask for either.
...will not have a television, computer, or video game in her bedroom.
My child will NOT be sold on Craiglist, when fire station drop offs are perfectly legal.
Other than that, we're pretty go with the flow.
