Is anyone else afraid of the weight gain?
Don't get me wrong, I know we are suppose to gain baby weight and have some extra nutrients for the baby and I'm not starving myself or anything. But I was reading one of the hot topic posts about weight gain patterns and I remembered my petite cousin gained like 55lbs with her first pregnancy. I think my sister only gained like 25lbs. It's kind of a scary thought to me.
Re: weight gain
I'm not worried about gaining it, I'm worried about losing it!!
My thoughts exactly!
Every person is different. I gained more than 40 lbs with my DD and I even made healthly choices for the most part. My little girl did weigh 9 lbs, so I lost most of the weight within the first few days and, I am not lying about this, I was back in my pre-pg jeans in one week. I was slender to start with and "in-shape" prior to getting pg. I did walk throughout the pregnancy and a lot of my weight gain was water weight towards the end. And NO, I didn't look as good in my jeans as I did before and I was certainly "squishy" in the middle, but it did encourage me to keep working to get fully back in shape. I tried to BF, but DD wouldn't latch, so you can certainly still shed the lbs without BF if this is not an option/choice for you.
Enjoy your time as a pg woman. Don't go overboard, make smart choices and spoil yourself from time to time.
petrified
I started this pregnancy the same weight I was when i had my daughter. Initially lost 25 lbs in the first 6 months, but when I returned to work the pounds came back.
too tired to work out, hope it is better in the 2nd trimester
I'm terrified as well
I was a size 2 petite when I got pregnant with my first and gained 30 lbs and didn't loose any of it. I'm a size 10 now. From a 2 to a 10!!!!!!!!!! UGH. I'm scared to gain another 30 and be a size 18
YES. In fact, I have been telling my hub the same thing. I am 8 wks and have already gained 4 pds. I am typically around 106 pds at 5'5. It doesnt help that all the healthy food I normally eat I want NOTHING to do with so I have been eating stuff I usually dont-chips, fries, ice cream-dont get me wrong, I choke down broccoli, salmon and some of the good stuff to. Point being, I likely am putting weight on from the crap I usually dont eat.
My hub is awesome first of all, and reminded me that woman that dont gain enough will often have an unhealthy baby. Also, that we burn so many calories after we give birth. I will try to keep that all in mind as the scale goes up.
Also, I am continuing to work out to stay in shape. You are not alone!
