I meant to post this in February, not 1st Trimester, so it's a double post - sorry!
My DH and I went for the NT screening today and things look good. It was the first time we've seen the baby or heard the heartbeat (168). The baby is measuring a few days smaller (11w, 5d) but they aren't going to change the due date. The screening went well and the doc got the measurements needed. In her opinion, things look good and normal. The blood work will come back next Wednesday. We had to do the u/s 3 different times, b/c the baby was sleeping and wouldn't cooperate. Finally, after a sprite and walking around the baby woke up and decided to play along. My DH saw "something" between the legs & the tech agreed that there was something there besides the cord. He immediately started patting himself of the back for making a boy, but I'm sad. I have always wanted a little girl and thought in my heart that this baby was a girl. So, Highs of having a healthy pregnancy & amazing life growing inside of me. Low because I feel a little sad it might not be a girl like I want/thought. Not that I don't want a boy, I just kinda wanted to have a little girl first.
Re: Mixed Emotions...
Don't get too upset just yet! Boy/Girl genitals really look the same at 12 weeks. Meaning, regardless of what you are having, there is going to be something in between the legs besides the cord! Check out this website, it shows it all in more detail...

"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." Psalm 139:14
Definitely this!!! Don't worry.
I'm glad the rest of the screen went well, though!

Let me just tell you ... I saw the EXACT same thing during the NT scan w/ my DD! I remember thinking - that is NOT an umbilical cord either, b/c it "ended", whereas an umb. cord wouldn't (if you know what I mean?). I swore it was a boy. Went to the 18 week u/s, and it was a girl!
I just want to give you reassurance that it could still be a girl, however, I think you should still prepare for a boy ... b/c you have a 50/50 chance of getting one, you know?
