Umbicial Cord and belly button bleeding?

My LO will be 2 weeks tomorrow. The doctor told me she has a pretty thick umbicial cord so it probably wont fall off till around 3 weeks. At the last ped appointment I had asked about the little bit of bleeding when I cleaned her belly button and they said it was normal. But this morning when I was changing her there was blood on her sleeper. Not a ton but it was a little more than what it was before. She doesn't have a fever and it doesn't hurt for me to touch it. Did anyway elses baby belly button bleed? Should I call doctor again on the subjecT?

Sorry I am a FTM and am just very nervous all the time about my LO.

DS's umbilical cord fell off yesterday morning at 3 weeks old. His started to bleed slightly for a few days before it fell off. Everyday before it fell off, he would have some small blood stains on his onesies. We were told it was completely normal. If he developed a fever or the umbilical cord started to actually bleed like an open wound, then we were told to call the pediatrician. I'm a FTM too, but thankfully, DS had a pedi appt the day it first started to bleed. Good timing for us. Good luck to you!

I think as long as it doesn't stink or have any other kind of gunky discharge (yellow, green, etc.) indicating infection, it should be ok. DS had a couple of spots of blood a few days before his fell off too, so I'd echo the "it's normal" sentiment you are getting.

My LOs fell off a week after she was born. She had some blood on her onsies a couple of times but her stump looked fine so I didnt worry about it.

My daughters belly button bled for almost a week after the cord stump fell off. The doctor said it was normal and we could clean it with an alcohol swab if we wanted to.

My son's cord fell off this morning and it has been bleeding and oozing the past few days.  I called the Dr. this morning. and they said this is completely normal.  They suggested that you clean it with alcohol and keep it open to air. She also said that if the skin turns red or irritated then to give them a call.
