Cutting LO's nails

How the heck do you get your LO to sit still? I cannot clip DS's nails if my life depended on it! He just squirms and pulls away the whole time. So frustrating. Any tips?

I usually clip DS's nails while I'm nursing him. If he is still squirmy, as weird as it may sound sometimes I bite them with my teeth- no chance of cutting his fingers that way.

I either do it while she is eating her bottle or when H is home so one of us can hold her down a bit.

I cut/file her nails when she is sleeping. I am super worried about cutting her fingers so I feel this is the safest route.

We sit outside  and I clip his nails while he looks around.

 He LOVES it- + the lighting is so much better. we tried clipping after baths & he would scream But outside, its fabulous & super easy

I give him a toy to play with the other hand. It can usually distract him long enough. i hate cutting nails.

We sit outside too, and it works like a charm. I agree with PP that the lighting is WAY better outside, and DS is distracted while looking around at everything.

Its so funny b/c T loves when I cut her nails. She sits and just watches me...I love it.  I've always heard biting them works when you can't clip them.

DH does it while I distract her with YouTube videos on my iPhone of old Sesame Street and Fraggle Rock clips. She doesnt ever watch TV so she's mesmerized by it!

H clips his nails behind his head so he doesn't see what is happening. Usually I am feeding him or talking to him to distract him too.

UGH!  I feel your pain!  We usually do it when she is really calm, like during or after her bottle, or right after she wakes up from a nap.

I sit with LO in front of the tv to cut his nails.  He doesn't normally get to watch tv so it distracts him enough that I can get the job done.

DS was easy. he would sleep through anything and I would do it then. DD only naps in the swing so its also harder. I just put cartoons on the tv and I do it after she has eaten so I know that she is happy and will probably sit still for a couple of minutes while I fly through them all.
