Pregnant after IF

Statistics

I've been researching but can't seem to find any statistics to calm my nerves.

I was released from my RE on Wednesday, and while that is super awesome news, its also worrisome.  When I asked why they don't keep me through 12 weeks, my doctor said that the rate of miscarriage is reduced significantly after 8 weeks gestation with IVF babies specifically because only the best embryos (or in my case blastocysts) are put back reducing the risk of chromosomal abnormalities.

What are your thoughts on this?  Have you seen any statistics about miscarriage rates with IVF babies?

Re: Statistics

  • Unless you did PGD, everything I've ever read says the m/c rate btwn IVF/natural pregnancies is about the same.  That said, my OB told me that if you see a healthy embryo (HB, size, etc.) at 8 weeks the m/c rate is less than 5%.

Pregnancy after IF is very scary and nerve-wracking so we all understand!  Try and take it one day at a time.

Well this in itself made me feel better!  So THANK YOU!  I did not do PGD.
