so currently my xh pays 400 a month in child support. which is all handed right over to daycare costs which are 560 a month. my xh and i are on good terms. currently his court ordered visitation is tuesday/ thursday from 5-7 and saturday over night to sunday every weekend. 

i am currently trying to get back on my feet after the divorce and trying to save money. new apt, new job, had to buy new everything.

since i pay more in child care a month then i do in rent i have been thinking of ways to save money. 1 idea i had was to have xh take son tues and thurs while i worked, instead of me putting him in day care.. i currently work 2nd shift 2-1030. so he would get him 12 extra hours a week from what is ordered by the courts.

i have been told it is a bad idea if my xh gets mad at me or something he can go to the courts and try to get his child support lowered...

opinions please. i am at a loss. i am spread so thin when it comes to finances i am looking for anyway to open up some extra...

From what I understand it is just effected by how many more overnights he would have. So if he just has him throughout the day then that wouldn't count and he couldn't get it changed. I would say go for it.

I think it may depend on how your state calculates CS.  I know the worksheet I've looked at for my state included childcare expenses, so you may want to do a bit of research and look for a child support worksheet for your state and plug the numbers.

I imagine CS is calculated differently in every state, but where I live it's based on overnights. So, unless the Tues/Thurs would turn into overnight visitations, there's no way he can try to fight you to get CS reduced.

ETA: I see you're from MI...so am I. So no, unless it was changing to overnights, he can't try to get CS lowered.
