on this massive amout of eating junk that I have been doing. It's so odd that I went from always trying to be healthy and keep my weight under control to being a total glutton. I seriously had to force myself to walk away from tater tots in the cafeteria at work twice this morning. This isn't just cravings. It's an all-day-long free for all.
How are you ladies controlling your cravings? Is anyone counting calories? Any tips for finding some motivation to go to the gym? I was running 4 days per week before I got pregnant. Now I'm so tired, I barely feel like walking to the mailbox.
Ugh. I feel gross.
Re: Got to get a grip....
Ditto. If something sounds good, I'm eating it. I've had more donuts this pregnancy than ever before but some mornings that's all I can stomach. Most of the time just having something in my stomach makes me feel better so I'll pair it with a banana or yogurt or a smoothie.
When battling m/s, you just do what you can.
love is for every her, love is for every him, love is for everyone
Week 10 was the worst for me. Don't beat yourself up.
DH has been a big help. For example: he bought a watermelon and it sat in the fridge. Then he cut it up into nice little cubes and I've been helping myself to fresh watermelon every day because it's "there." Ideally I'd like to be eating more veggies. When I visit my mom, it's easy to eat lots of veggies because she has homegrown tomato and cucumber sliced up at every meal and bowls of cherry tomatoes lying around. Again... it's easily accessible and fresh veggies from the garden are hard to resist. I've also been leaving a jar of peanut butter and a bag of apples on the counter. So I guess my "advice" is to try and make sure that your easiest food/snack options are healthy ones. I've never been a calorie counter, I'm too lazy.
I don't know if you're feeling m/s. Since my m/s has gotten a little better I've been able to go back to planning a weekly menu and DH shops for the ingredients (before I couldn't even look at a grocery list.) Being prepared REALLY helps.
If there is a meal waiting (DH has done lots of cooking) I am not going to be tempted to order Chinese take-out.
And as far as exercise goes... I have an 11 month puppy/dog so she needs a lot of exercise and we like to play outside together.
DH and I will sometimes go for a leisurely walk around the neighborhood at night. It's both exercise and a nice chance for us to enjoy being together. Hope some of my suggestions are helpful!
ETA: If you're doing the cooking, I suggest cooking double or even triple. I made soup in the crockpot and DH and I ate it for three days. Love leftovers! Then all you have to do is reheat.
Yeah i'm there with you, this kid LOVES carbs, Spaghetti, Taco salad, Red meat, burgers! OMG!
My co-work (3 weeks farther along then me) she's a pro, everything she eats is healthy, still goes to the gym at lunch (while i sleep!)... makes me sick and jealous.
Now that i'm getting energy back i'm thinking about walking at lunch or doing the eliptical. I think it's just going to be one of those things where you have to force yourself until it starts feeling normal and good again.
On sparkpeople.com they have a bump one that helps you eat healthy while pregnant and it's free!
I feel like I was doing great (eating small meals more often, healthy snacks, etc.), and this week all I want is sugar and candy! Grrr. I don't even normally like sweets all the much, but I can't stop. It doesn't help that my bosses have very little reasonable food, so unless I eat the exact same thing every day (which I usually do), the only other option is junk food.
I don't have any good suggestions on how to find the motivation to stop, but hopefully someone else does! I don't have a scale at home, so next week is my 2nd appointment and I'll see how much weight I've gained. Maybe that will be the kick I need to start being healthy again.

I am the same! All I want is french fries and chips and salsa. But I do find that the more of that I eat, the worse bloat and stomach aches I get so Ive been trying to stick to fruit snacks and toast when Im really craving the starchy carbs.
I used to go to the gym 3 days a week, since getting pregnant Im lucky if I even walk by the gym so Im right there with ya girl!
I'm also motivated by how I'll feel about myself after SO arrives. I gained 65 lbs during my first pregnancy. I was so embarrassed after DD was born (still makes me feel sad). I had to continue wearing my extra large maternity clothes for weeks. I started WW immediately and started taking DD on two hour walks everyday (not easy with a newborn). It took me three months to get the weight off, but that was five years ago (I was 29).
A little over a year later, I watched my carb intake with DD2. I only gained 30-35. After she was born, I couldn't believe the difference. When I looked in the mirror, I wasn't disgusted at all. I felt like I looked great in my regular clothes a few weeks later at DD1's birthday party.
This time, it's going to be hard to get through the holidays without gaining a lot of weight. However, remembering how awful I felt after the birth of DD1 is motivating me. My goal is to gain 20-25. I've been counting calories since my BFP, and I've gained three pounds instead of my typical ten.
If you would like a calorie counting buddy, I'm here.
