I LOVE this name. I keep bringing it up hoping that DH will change his mind on it. Do you plan on pronouncing it Rain-er or Rhine-er (the german pronunciation)? I love it either way, The Thornbirds is one of my faves.

I like it.  I think it will age better with the boy than either Maverick or Apollo.

Rainer is weird.  It looks like you can't decide between Rain and Rainier so you smooshed them together.

Maverick is also a trainwreck. 

Apollo is much better.

I really really dislike Maverick- trying way to hard it sounds like when I hear that name.  Out of those three I prefer Rainer..

It is ok as a name, but weird because you live in Washington.  Everyone is going to think you named him after the mountain.
