negative pregnancy test and still no period! Help me!

I don't know if this is normal or not. I have never been pregnant but I have never been this late with my period before either. I am at least 3 weeks late and I have had two negative over the counter pregnancy tests. I have read that this has happened to many other women too. The other women have had several negative tests, even from doctors, and then 8 weeks or so later they get a positive pregnancy test result.

We are so ready to have kids and I am hoping this is it! Please let me know if you have any insight or advice. I don't have any pregnancy symptoms either...I am super emotional though. I am kinda emotional anyway : )

your best bet is to make a doctor appointment and have a blood test.

There are a few possibilities. Either you're pregnant but it's too early to show on a test, you ovulated later than normal and it delayed your period so that you're not really "late", or you have some sort of health issues going on that are delaying your period. I'd go see your doctor and have him do a bloodtest. If it's negative, it'd be worth investigating. GL.

Did you recently go off birth control. If you did, then that is probably why you haven't gotten your period. You aren't late per se. Your body is out of whack and needs to regulate itself. This can take MONTHS. If you haven't recently gone off BC, it could be a number of things. However, it is unlikely that you pregnant, unless very newly pregnant. The likelihood of actually being three weeks late and not getting a BFP are slim. What is more likely is that if you are pregnant, you ovulated late, and you should give it another week. Lots of factors play into a late period, and many of them do not include pregnancy.

Test once a week. If you pass CD 60 you should see your doctor. You probably just ovulated late. You could have O'd late and be pregnant but it is too soon to tell.

 I agree with this.  When I got off BC in March, my cycles were so out of whack.  At one point it went 38 days (and we were not TTC'ing yet).  If I were you, because you are actually TTCing, go see your doctor to be sure.  However, if you just got off the pill a few months ago, then maybe your cycles are just screwy.  If you find you are not pregnant, I strongly recommend a OPK. It worked INSTANTLY for me!

My bf is a nurse and she told me that some women will never get a positive urine test result and pregnancy can only be confirmed with a blood test.

Other posters have definitely said some helpful things, but the only way you will know for sure is to go to a doctor.  I hope you get the news you want!!  Remember to update us!

Ok, here is my story, its kind of long, but it might help you..or give you some hope. 

 

I am 5 weeks late for my period...I have already missed my second period.  My LMP was June 1st, which means I SHOULD have ovulated on the 19th.  The entire month of June I was away from my DH because I was gone visiting family. But, DH came to visit me during the middle of my stay...which just so happens to be the time of the month that I could get pregnant..he was only there for 4 days.  I went back home on June 30th.  I should have started my period on July 3rd.  But I didn't.  That entire week I took pregnancy test, after pregnancy test, all of which came out negative..at 7 days late I went and had a blood test.  It said my hcg was >2 and it came out a negative.  I assumed I wasn't pregnant...The next day I went shopping with my mil, and when I went to the bathroom I noticed a brown fluid, like old blood when I wiped...but that was it just when I wiped..I assumed I was about to start my period but nothing ever came.  A week went by and still no period...just spotting that one time.. So I decided to take another test...it said negative. 

So a few days ago, I was getting really put out with not having started my period still, a bunch of negative hpt's and one negative blood test.  So I decided I would call my Dr. and get an appt to see what was going on!  While at the store that day I decided to buy one more pack of tests before I went to the dco, and see what it said..I didn't even wait until morning..I just used one that night.  When I used it I really thought it was going to say negative.  So I didn't even wait for the answer I just walked out of the room...when I went back into the restroom it had a faint positive!! I didn't know what to think.. so I decided to dip the other stick in the pee and see it what said...it too had a faint positive.  So I went back to the store and bought the first response test, and clear blue..I took them the next day and the were very positive..all 5 tests said positive..and now 4 days later...the first response positive line is darker then the control line lol...

So my first doc appt. is next Thursday in 6 days..I am very anxious..my doctor said over the phone that a) I am one of the rare few who's hcg decides to hide and not show itself for awhile, and that wold make me 9 weeks pregnant or b) I got pregnant when I got back..and the traveling and everything made me ovulate really late...which means I probably got pregnant the week I thought I was missing my period...and that explains the negative blood tests, and the negative urine tests until just a few days ago...Because if that brown fluid was implantation bleeding and it didn't occur until the day after my blood test..then I wouldn't have had any hcg in my system to register yet...and taking the test a week later...could have probably been too early.

 

So there is my story..I know it was really long..but if you're hoping for a baby then maybe it gives you some hope...or some helpful insight.

erinasky - I was just wondering what ended up happening for you...are you pregnant, or did AF finally come?

I am in a very similar situation, and I have found plenty of people in my situation, but not very many who share the outcome.  I would love to know yours!
