I registered for them, but didn't actually receive any of them. I don't see anything wrong with it. Lots of women have them on their registries.

yes it is. I am not planning on BF. I am going to FF, and I registered for bottles and such. No reason you should register for the things you and your baby need.
These are all things I plan on or have bought myself. I actually used gift cards people gave me towards this stuff. I just didn't feel comfortable with putting this on my registry.
Mom to 2 beautiful girls, 3 yrs and 22 months old. My 2nd was born at 32 weeks due to Rhogam failure/severe complications from Rh disease and is our miracle. She has bilateral auditory neuropathy and a cochlear implant, activated 4/5/2012 at 19 months.
i didn't register for them. when i went in to complete my registry, BRU let me add them to get the 10% off. so i just stocked up on some items then. my MIL commented that she didn't think anyone would buy the baby's butt paste becuase some people would even find that weird.... she was wrong. you never know... maybe someone would buy it.
I find it incredibly awkward, personally. Several of my friends have done it, but I think it's kind of like the maxi pads after giving birth- some things you just buy for yourself!
I didn't put cream or pads on my registry (nor did I put my pump because it's too $$$ and I didn't want my shower attendees to think I was greedy). But I did register for a nursing stool, storage bags, etc., so that people would know I was planning to nurse.
I did if people dont feel comfortable getting them for you they wont. Also, you can use your coupon after the baby comes to buy it yourself if they are on the registry!
I don't think it is appropriate. But, I know a lot of people put them on their registry. I think it is more of a question of how YOU feel about it.
On a side note (not saying it will happen to you), a few years back we had a shower for a girl here at work. It was kind of an open invitation for anyone to come. Well, this weird creepy guy here came and gave her nursing pads and nipple cream. How weird is that???
I wouldn't have until Babies R Us told me that you get 10% off what ever is not bought off off your register. I think it is personal but I want it cheaper and if someone buys if for me, that is one less thing to buy myself.
Against my Mom's advise, I put these on my registry. I don't plan on anybody buying them for me (except my Mom or close female relative) but I want to use my completion certificate for them. It will save me a fair amount of money and every bit will help!
i didn't feel comfortable registering for them so I just decided to get them on my own but I have seen them on many people's registries and if you need/want it then why not.
I registered for them. I didn't expect someone to buy the pump since it is so $$. But hey, at least I will be able to get the discount when I do go and buy it later.
I did and I got most of the stuff on there. I already had the pump so I didn't have to worry about that. The way my friends and family are, I probably would've gotten tampons if I would've registered for those! We're all really close and it wasn't awkward at all. They gave me a whole "boobie" basket as well as a whole "butt" basket (diaper creams, wipes...)
heck yeah, I got a ton of stuff at both showers and won't need tobuy anything for months! I got 4 packs of breast pads, a few packs of seal and store bags, nipple cream, even breast stuff I didn't ask for but my friends knew from expereince I would need it. I wouldn't be bashful about adding it.
I registered for a manual pump and had a friend (happens to not have kids, but is a nanny) who upgraded me to an electric AND bought ALL accessories to go with it.
I don't think people will be offended, register for what YOU would like and if they don't want to buy it, they won't.

I tried to take a middle ground...

I registered for the pump and bags to freeze the milk. SOmeone bought the bags and I'll just use the coupon for the pump myself.

We didn't but I don't see anything wrong with it.
