For those of you that are BF or planning to, what breast pads do you have or are you buying? I am registered fro Dr Brown's Lace Contoured and Lasinoh 36 count.
I am pretty sure I lived and died by the lansinoh ones last time. I can't remember exactly, but they came in a purple box, so that sounds right. I remember the Johnson & Johnson ones felt too bulky.
I went through 4-5 sets a day at first, then 1-2 sets a day after the first couple of weeks.. I was a HEAVY leaker though. I would go through the 66 count boxes pretty quickly.
They do make washable ones, but the ones in the 36/66 count boxes are disposable and NOT washable. Although they do swell up pretty in the machine when you do wash them
I would get two boxes because you will change them several times a day at first. They are not washable. They have the same gel thingy that diapers have - they swell up and absorb the liquid. A friend accidentally washed one and it got so big and squooshy she was all "Why is there a breast implant in my washer?" LOL.
Someone gave me Medela disposables at my shower... should I exchange them for the Lanisoh brand? I got like 100, and I'm not sure how fast you go through them...
I wouldn't worry about brand if you already have a big box....the first few weeks you won't care about how you look anyway. I just worried more once I was back at work and had to dress 'professionally'.
You basically have to change them every time they get wet. Like I said I was a super leaker and probably should have changed more often even than I did....but it really depends on your personal comfort. I never minded until I could feel the wetness...and the lansinoh ones hold a lot.
I liked the Lansinoh and Medela disposable ones the best but Lansinoh had more sales/coupons so I mostly used those. I never had washable/reusable ones.
washable are no good. they change shape and get all messed up in the wash. plus, you have to soak or wash frequently b/c they grow mold! uck.
i leaked a lot. and found that nothing other than the Lansinoh worked for me. i would use the Avent ones at home b/c they were cheaper, but if i had to go out or was going to work, Lansinoh was the only one i trusted.
Re: Breast Pads
I bought a box of Lanisoh so try them out. If I don't like them, I'll switch to another brand.
Lansinoh, I agree, lived and died by them.
The fabric ones I ran right through and the stuck to my skin.
I preferred the Lansinoh ones over all the other brands. They were the only ones that didn't show through my clothes at work.
I wore cloth ones at home, but they were bulkier.
