Postpartum Depression

Ever taken Zoloft?

 50mg

The nurse said that it may give me some trouble sleeping.

Does it take a long time to work?

Re: Ever taken Zoloft?

  • I have been on Zoloft for 9 years.  I don't remember exactly but I remember coming out of my haze within a few weeks.  It may have been a placebo effect becuase i was so thrilled i was getting help and wouldn't have to feel that way anymore!

When I first went on it, they warned about some anxiety side effects and gave me a fast acting anti-anxiety just in case.  I did not use it.  The bad part about anti-depressants is that they can have so many different side effects and real effects can vary.  If this one does not work for you, ask for another.

Hope this helps and remember.... you are on your way to feeling better!

  • I am on it. Started at 50mg and moved to 100mg. It has helped and I can tell a differnce, but I think Pristiq helped me so much more. I was on it pre-pregnancy. With the Zoloft I am able to function and get through the day with out feeling like I did right after DS was born. But with the Pristiq, I felt good. I felt like myself and "normal."

  • Worked for me within days.

It makes me sleepy though, so I take it at night.

  • I was started at 50 mg and was moved up to 100 mg after a few days. I felt the effect within days of starting the 100 mg dosage.

I take mine first thing in the morning so by the end of the day I don't normally have issues sleeping. The firstcouple days of both dosage levels made me very drousy and nauseous, but those side effects wore off quickly for me.

  • I echo many of the sentiments from previous posters.

Haven't had trouble sleeping. Although, the first few days I took it, I felt restless. But I think it from other things, and not the Zolof.

I take mine in the AM.

  • Hi, just a lurker, but I have taken Zoloft. I may be the only one with a complaint, but I actually weaned back off of it because my PPD wasn't improving and I was becoming extremely twitchy.
