okay ladies- i need opinions...
we are thinking of trading in our murano (which i love) for a minivan. i do love the murano, but it is expensive and we could get a used minivan for cheaper. here's my question....is it really worth having a minivan? i have been avoiding it for a long time, but every time a mommy friend bites the dust and gets one, they always talk about how awesome it is...
i'm wondering though, if it's like when people talk about having kids and how awesome it is. maybe they just want me to cave and do the minivan thing too... :P
any thoughts?
Re: minivan or not
I just got a minivan and I love it. With two kids, I don't think it's a must but it is really convenient (but we hope to have 3 which is why we got it). I really like the automatic sliding doors and trunk. I use that feature all.the.time. Like today I was walking out of daycare with a snugride, a bag, and holding DD#2's hand. It was so nice to hit two buttons on my keychain and have both side doors open. I also like the sliding doors because you don't have to worry about the doors hitting other cars and it makes it easier in tight parking spots.
The space in the back is wonderful and it helps me keep more organized (we currently have the back row folded down). For example, in the back, I have a trunk organizer container in which I keep diapers, wipes, towels, a diaper backpack, a regular diaper bag, sunscreen, bug spray, hats, extra clothes, and hand sanitizer. We also keep two strollers back there at all times and there is still plenty of room when I need to get groceries, go shopping, etc. With an SUV or Sedan, I feel like I couldn't keep all of that stuff back there and we'd constantly have to be swapping out the stroller and other items. But with the minivan, there's plenty of space to store that stuff. When they get older and want to have friends spend the night or so, I like that we can all fit in the car. Also, we go a lot of places with DH's parents and my brother so it's nice when we can all ride together. I guess it's personal preference and based on your needs but I have been so happy with mine.
what about something like this?

LOL- just a little out of our budget
We finally broke down and did it. We only have 1 child so far. We are both stick shift, turbo kind of people. One car we have is two door and nearly impossible to get a car seat in and out. The other is four door, but still the back seat is pretty tight.
The real issue we had was that when my parents came to town, we had to take two cars. We ended up renting a minvan last year to haul us, parnets and a ton of stuff. that is when he really started to cave. The space is amazing. And nowadays, they can be pretty tricked out. My husband and I always swore up and down we would never get one. But after looking at all the crossovers and SUVs (went to the car show), it was clear that the minvan was the best option.
I still cringe looking at it, and hate how uncool it is. But it is a minivan on the outside and a palace on the inside. Room for everyone and everything, and anymore kids that come along. As much as we hate to admit it, we really love it.
