I'm afraid I won't even know I'm in labor and I'll end up giving birth at home...and I said as much to DH last night.
I'm so out of tune w/ my body sometimes that I ignore pains, twitches, etc. and go on about my business...and I'm afraid I'll do that w/ contractions. Everyone says you'll know when you have a "real" contraction, but I feel like I'll be one of those women that goes in for a weekly appt and my OB will say "uh, you're in labor NOW!"
Anyone else?
Re: Monday Confession:
In most cases, you WILL know. It's much more than a pain you can ignore, at least in my experience.
I hear you - I ma the last person to want to go to the doctor, even if my arm is falling off, but you will know when something is going on.
I will be hyper aware, since my hospital is 45 minutes away at the best of times! I am not about to have this kid in the car.
I don't blame you, when I was in labor for my DD I definitely felt contractions- but they weren't any worse than the BH's I was getting, so I dismissed them. I noticed they were getting a little more regular, but never hurtful... then my water started leaking so I knew it was the real thing I was soaking through pads on my way into the hospital.
I pray my water breaks this time so I will KNOW I'm in labor.
Too funny! Lyndsay, I think we're on the same page w/a lot of stuff... I had bad BH the other day, but I've gotten so used to them that I brush them off.
I told DH that I'm going to be "one of those idiots" who doesn't know I'm in labor, and that I'll just say, "Huh, I have severe BH coming every four minutes. Hope they go away soon. Wow, can't believe I just wet my pants, wonder if my water will ever break..."
I haven't had a baby yet, but I did have contrax with my natural m/c. Believe me, there is no way you can ignore that kind of pain.
Of course, I suppose there is the fear of not being able to tell the difference between BH and real contrax.
LOL!
