Sorry if this is a weird question - I'm very curious.
So, like many of us, I went through this period in my pregnancy (starting around 19 weeks or so) where my nails were fantastic and my hair barely needed to be washed and I wasn't losing any hairs after my shower or down the drain. Great, good.
I remember reading to expect that sometime after the babies are born I'll experience hair loss as all the new hair follicles go away and I'm left with just my "regular" hair amount.
But I don't remember reading about what's happening now - my hair has really slowed down. I shave my underarms every morning, for example, and they feel as smooth (with maybe one or two missed hairs) every morning before I shave as after I shave. In "regular life" I tend to feel prickly by the end of the day. The same thing is happening with my legs. I shaved two days ago, and they feel as smooth as if I shaved 20 minutes ago (it's cold at work, so I tend to feel prickles quickly on my legs, ordinarily).
Is this normal? Am I missing out on some essential nutrient or not eating enough? So far (last appointment was last week), everything is going amazingly well. Excellent blood pressure, good weight gain, very little swelling at this point, and the babies were each 1lb 9oz on Thursday. I think the medical-chart evidence points to everything being fine, but I just don't remember reading about this (of course, I could have forgotten).
Re: Reduce hair growth (mine) at 25 weeks
Preemie ID DDs; then DS; then natural M/C; now due 10/17
High risk for pre-term: weekly Makena injections
haha - great! Love it!
I am having a really hard time reaching my legs...
Your hair stays in the same phase during pregnancy. So the follicles stay where they were when you got pregnant (hair has three different phases - anagen, catagen, telogen). You've probably shaved the follicles that were active and the rest are resting.
Well that's my best guess.
