3rd Trimester

question for ladies in the Baltimore area..

It may be a bit late in the game to be asking this but do you mind telling me who your doctor is and/or where will you be delivering??  DH and I just moved down to the area from outside of Philly.  I thought I wouldn't mind staying with my doctors up there but the closer I get to my due date, the more worried I get and I'd just rather be close to my doctors/hospital.  TIA!!

  • I'm not in Baltimore, but I think there's a Baltimore board that might help.  Click on the green "In Your Area" link at the top right.

  • I go to Annapolis OBGYN and will be delivering at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis.  My DH works in the medical field and is familiar with the hospitals in the area, and that was the one he was the most comfortable with.

I like my doctors, but I don't looooove them.  It's a group practice, so you're supposed to see all nine docs who deliver.  I've seen about five of them, and of that I LOVE three of them and think two are ok.

Previously I went to Chesapeake Women's Care, but I had a terrible experience with a doctor there (ended with me leaving the office in tears) so I wouldn't recommend them at all.

As a sidenote, DH got into a conversation with a neonatal nurse at Hopkins, and she told him they have a serious problem with baby snatching (she said they're taking a lot of measures to prevent/change this) but that freaked me out enough not to want to deliver there!

  • I always forget about doing that.  Thanks!

  • My BF in Baltimore delievered at Anne Arrundal and another girl here in Baltimore is going to Holy Cross down closer to DC.

I live near Frederick and deliver in Northern Va becasue I do not like the hospitals close to here for maternity.

I am from Bucks Coutny area in Philly.

    :)

  • where in Baltimore are you?  I use to live in Columbia and went to a great practice there - https://www.drsemh.com/ I was seeing their midwives because we were having a low risk pregnancy and I can't even begin to tell you how sad I was when we moved because they were just amazing.  They deliver at Howard County Hospital.
  • I see the midwives at Drs. Esposito, Mayer & Hogan and I really love them. That's the practice that Brian&Nikki linked to above. They are wonderful and their office is right next to the hospital which is nice.
  • I am going to Dr. Joyce Bonsu and will be delivering at St. Agnes Hospital.  I've been going to this office for basically all of my OB/GYN life.  There was only a short time where I used a different OB/GYN due to insurance.  I also delivered DD 9-1/2 years ago at St. Agnes.
  • My BFF used Annapolis OB and they were great!

I was at AA for the delivery and everyday after and it was a wonderful expereince. She was there for 10 days due to issues.

  • This will probably depend on where you live but I live in the Overlea/Fullerton area and my doctor is located in may's chapel (about 15 minutes) away- her name is Julie Jacobstein and she works out of Sinai Hospital- she also has an office there.

410-601-5530 is the number for her office at Sinai if you are interested.

  • Thanks ladies!  We're in White Marsh so I'll probably look into the practice that delivers at Howard County first then onto Anne Arrundel.

Em, thanks for the tidbit on Hopkins and baby snatching!!  I could not even imagine, that is crazy.

Jar, how far do you live from your hospital?  Really, we're just moving back from London (I just saw my docs in PA a few times before moving down here) so all this transitioning is a pain! And, p.s., Bucks County is really pretty, I love it there!  I didn't grow up far from it, DH and I are both from Chester County.

  • I obviously need to do a quicker job at posting and keeping up, ha-ha!  Thanks for all the info..it's nice to hear good things about these practices first hand from people who have experience with them.  Off to make some phone calls!

  • eminbmore, which doctor did you have trouble with at Chesapeake Women's Care?  (If you don't mind me asking)  We are using them and plan to deliver at Anne Arundel Medical Center.  So far we have enjoyed all the doctors, although I'm not too keen on Dr. Kumar.  Bedside manner could use some work.  The only one we haven't met is Dr Wells.
  • I'm relatively new to the area as well.  I see the midwives at Susquehanna OB/GYN in Bel Air, MD (Harford County).  I will be delivering at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center. The facility is nice and safe.  They have baby lojack, LOL.  The staff is helpful and sensitive to the needs of its patients.
  • I'm with Annapolis OB/GYN and am delivering at Anne Arundel Medical Center. I've been really happy with most docs in their practice, though I'm hoping I get my long-time OB/GYN doc to deliver me (long story but he was the doc that actually delivered me for my mom, so it would just be cool to have him deliver DD.)

    ?

I'm delivering at AAMC for several reasons. ?Firstly, because I work there and know a bunch of the staff. ?Secondly, their rooms are much nicer than some of the surrounding hospitals (we live outside of Bmore and had scoped out other places, too, but settled on trekking to AAMC) AND they do mother/baby rooming-in, so you have your baby with you all the time instead of being in a nursery. ?We both really liked that aspect of their services. ?Plus, free post-natal massage!?

  • i am delivering at AAMC and go to Chesapeake Women's care.   So far, i like most of them.  i bet Prichep is the reason that PP got upset- I though he had horrible bedside manner and i know of a couple of other people that he upset.

St. Joe's and GBMC are also highly reputable.  My sister went to Capital Women's care at st joes and if i didn't live in AA county I would have gone there.

  • I see Dr. Weisman, she is part of Sinai OB/GYN associates and I'm delievering at Sinai Hospital. I live in Owings Mills and it is the closest hospital to me. I also used to work at the hospital and I love their L&D. They also have a very good NICU and Maternal Fetal program.
  • I live in Harford County and I go to Dr. Sopher and Dr. Levy in Bel Air and love them both.  I am delivering at Upper Chesapeake. They just added a whole bunch of new rooms.  The rooms are huge and all private.  You might want to find a doctor who delivers at Franklin Square since that is really close to White Marsh.
