Overnight flip for toddler...how to increase absorbancy?

Do you have some suggestions for what I could do? I tried the Flips organic insert and I just folded it in thirds but when he wakes up the outer cover is reeking of urine. If it wasn't waterproof I know he'd be soaked.

Is there a different way to fold the organic insert for better absorbancy? I'm still new at this and haven't really learned about folding prefolds yet.

Tonight I am doubling up the stay-dry inserts to see if  that does any better.

What have you done that seems to help?

  • Could you fold a stay dry inside the cotton insert? sort of like sandwich it in there?

Do you have any hemp inserts? They could be folded in the Flips insert too.

  • If you are worried about him feeling wet I would use a stay dry doubler or maybe use a stay dry insert on top of the organic.  HTH!

  • Since you have a boy, the most pee would be in the front, could you trifold the organic insert and put it under a stay dry insert (or second organic insert) in the front of his diaper? I know that would make it bulky in front but that would definitely catch the pee where it is heaviest and the stay dry against the skin would help him feel dryer. As long as the cover isn't wicking onto sheets/clothing I'd say it's normal for it to be more than daytime diapers that are changed more often. Hope that helps!

  • I use a stay dry on top of a BG newborn insert

  • I have put a BG MF insert (NB size) inside the organic Flip insert for overnight and had success with it. I would think that putting the stay-dry insert on top of the organic insert would work too. Plus, it would keep baby's bum dryer. Hope you find something that works for you! GL!
