Re: Pregnant (& TTC) After Preemie Check-in!

  • Today I am 33w6d - which is when Ellie was born. CRAZY! But, I still have an inside baby and she's still kicking up a storm in there, so I'm feeling pretty good. I feel like since we've now made it past this morning (my water broke at 6am), I feel much better about our chances of making it to full term. Just 3 more weeks - yay!

  • I'm 1cm, 70% effaced and being induced friday night. My doc stripped my membranes today in hopes of getting me somewhere on my own, but I don't think anything is going to happen. So just a couple more days :)

  • It is so nice to hear you ladies are doing to well!  I had Benjamin at 34 weeks, so I imagine crossing that threshold with our next will be such a good feeling.

We are on cycle 2 CD 8.  I am considering getting a few opks to assist this cycle, but we didn't need anything with Benjamin so I am hesitant.  Not sure why, I guess I think if I think about it too much I will be more dissappointed if we don't conceive.

I have also been thinking that I would like to use a midwife.  I guess it is more along the lines of not wanting anything like Benjamin's birth.  I want to remember and not be deathly afraid.  I want a conforting environment and a place where I feel I am in control of something.  Sound silly?

Not silly at all! This is my second pregnancy with midwives. I was a little on the fence for a while over using them for this pregnancy, simply because I was afraid I wouldn't feel like we received enough monitoring, but I will always maintain that they did an EXCELLENT job of taking care of DD1 and I, despite the complications that arose. Basically, she was born at 33w6d due to pPROM and when we got to the hospital, she was in severe distress and was IUGR. But, I had no indications that anything was amiss outwardly (I was even measuring 1-2 weeks ahead at my appts), so I do not blame them for "missing" anything. They have been very good throughout this pregnancy with listening to my concerns and understanding that my stress level needs to be treated as well (thus why they've agreed to a couple extra ultrasounds even though they really haven't been indicated). I also love that I have a minimal wait time with the office, and that they always spend at least 15-20 minutes with me - I never feel rushed. And, their nurse line always picks up...I hate having to wait for a call back! I'm sure some of that is purely the way they run their office, but I just wanted to throw in my $.02! Feel free to page me if you have any other midwife questions :)

  • 34 weeks today!  I'm almost 2 weeks past when I had DS, and it's a great feeling.  I'm having a baby shower tomorrow and maternity pics!  I didn't get either of those things when I was pg with him.  Well, I had a baby shower, but it was after he was born and in the NICU, so a little different.

I thought I would be super anxious during this time between when I had him and full term, but it hasn't been too bad.  I think because we're just so busy I don't think about it much.  I hope the next 3 weeks fly by!  And I only have 2 more 17p shots!

And just FYI, I won't be around as much for the remainer of my pg.  I'm training my replacement at work so I can't be online as much.  But I'll keep you guys posted.

    GL ijack!

  • I had my 14 week appointment on Friday. Little Bit looks good, and is growing right on track with a strong, fast heartbeat. Surprised that I got to see Little Bit again - but the doc wants to keep tabs on development and keep an eye out for fetal hydrops occurring again. And in getting to see Little Bit again I saw that Little Bit is a girl (unless there was some serious hiding going on). She was sitting facing straight toward camera with her legs up and out to the side - and there was a pretty little "butterfly" as clear as day between her legs. We go back on the 26th for the gender scan to confirm gender, but I've been convinced since I found out I was pregnant again that Little Bit is a girl Smile

Finally got my lab work back and the doc is happy with the results considering how badly my kidneys were shot at delivery. She said that my numbers show that I have 95-97% of full function of my kidneys! I did have one liver enzyme that was reading one point high, but she said as long as those numbers don't start jumping one way or the other that we're still good in that area too.
