Houston Babies

XP:TRU coupon

If anyone received the Toys R Us booklet ad with the 20% off 1 regular priced toy on it, may I please have it if you aren't going to use it? I can send you a SASE if you want.

I figured I'd take care of DS Christmas/birthday (12/22) shopping early since most of the stuff I want is hard to get near the holidays and rarely goes on sale.

Re: XP:TRU coupon

  • We haven't received one. For some reason we a re hit or miss with those. I'll let ya know if we get one.

Just out of curiosity, what types of things are you planning on getting? Our DSs are close in age and I have been wondering what would be a good Christmas gift this year.

  • The big this we want to get him is one of the nice kitchen playsets. he has a really small cheap one I found at a thrift store that was still in the box and he sometimes would play with that all afternoon. We also want to get him the accessories like play food and pots and pans and appliances. I had found a play microwave at a thrift store, too that he likes to play with and the plates and silverware that came with the kitchen set he pretend eats from or serves you the food.

There are also a couple Little People sets we want to get. The zoo one and I think another animal one for starters.

I was also looking at the one basketball hoop thing that was just advertised, a table/chair set or little art desk type thing and maybe a bowling set.

  • Oh, those are great ideas. DS is obsessed with the vacuum cleaner, so I thought a kid size vacuum that actually works would be neat (and he can start learning to help mommy clean). I was also thinking along the lines of a kitchen or little house since he loves the one outside at his daycare. Other than that I was trying to figure out what would help is fine and gross motor skills. He loves to read so I know we will get him books, but other toys that cause him to concentrate and refine his motor skills tend to frustrate him. I want him to learn while liking what he is doing.

  • DS LOVES his vacuum.. it cracks jokes as does his mower that he has at Grandmas. We got him a kid sized broom so he'd leave our regular one alone, but alas, he now uses the regular broom, dust mop & swiffer.

Books are always a given for us. We get DS books all the time as it is, but also look for special ones for his bday or Christmas.

What about Duplo/Mega blocks. Right now DS stacks them or just puts them in a box and dumps them out.

He also likes his little tool bench that I found at a yard sale.
