Side effects to men taking clomid - Depression?

Quick questions for anyone who had a DH on Clomid:

Did you see any side effects of depression? DH has recently been feeling a little bit depressed and just not as excited about things. Hes been on it now for 41 days and we don't have an appointment with the urologist for another 16 days. Due to issues with the urologist and insurance we had to switch clinics right before the monitoring appointment was scheduled to check and see if the clomid is helping. So instead of checking his levels after 30 days, we have to wait 57 days.

Now he could just be in a funk, but I am curious if anyone else had this side effect show.

Re: Side effects to men taking clomid - Depression?

  • My DH has been on Clomid for about 5 months, and he hasn't had any side effects.  But he could just be an exception.

Also, his urologist had him wait at least 90 days before having any blood work or a SA done again to check to see if it's working.

Good luck figuring out what's going on.

  • I don't have any comparison with DH, but I know that when I go on it, even for just a few days, it has a HUGE impact on my emotional health.  I would imagine that it would have the same effect on men's mental health as well.

I hope you guys get some answers soon!  And I hope the clomid does the trick!

  • I am so sorry your DH is going through this down time.  When MH was on clomid (a very short time) he did not have any side effects.  Although, just like us everyone reacts differently on meds.  I hope you can get some answers soon!

  • Thanks for the feedback ladies! We'll see what happens in the next few days. If my DH says it's getting worse I may try and bump up the appointment and see if there is anything else they could prescribe.
