As much as I've always heard that you should wipe front to back to prevent UTI's, it is just awkward. I've always wiped back to front and I've only had 1 UTI in my life. I think the front to back thing is a bunch of hooey.

It's also so you don't spread fecal matter to your va-jay-jay. I will wipe my daughter down (from front to back) but I blot, then wipe my @ss separately.

Nope, not hooey. You move particles of fecal matter into your vajayjay when you wipe back to front. You also push bacteria up in to your urethra when you wipe back to front as opposed to pushing it away from your urethra.
You may simply be lucky and have a great imune system when it comes to UTI's, but if I wiped back to front Id definitely end up with one. Not only that, but I just find it gross... That's just me though.
Also if your doc tells you to wipe front to back, you gotta realize it's based on some science. (My doc told me this after reoccuring UTI's).
Im honestly shocked at the number of people who do wipe back to front! Oh well lol. Your body I suppose.

I'm really surprised how many people wipe back to front honestly... like PP said if I started wiping like that I would get so many UTIs. Outside of that it's just plain unsanitary.

What are you all not understanding about #1 only. I'm not talking about your a$$es. Who the heck would wipe their butt and vag in one swipe. I don't know about the rest of you but I don't poop out of my vagina so how fecal matter would be in my vagina.
This sadi for #1 only, if it is just pee, I wipe my va-jay-jay back to front. If there is poop, I wipe separately. One piece for the front and one (or more) pieces for the back.

Actually, my doctor has never told me to wipe my vagina from front to back.

But when I take a pee, I don't start at my anus and go back to front. I go from just below my urethra to just above I suppose. Whether you're wiping down or up, bacteria is still being pushed around near the urethra.
Edited because the bump likes "anus" better than "a*sshole"
Your urethra, bladder, and urine are meant to be completely sterile. Your vagina and anus are not. There is bacteria however that just lives in your anus, around your anus, in your vagina and in the space between your anus and vagina that does not belong in your urethra. That's why when you are on antibiotics you can get a yeast infection, because destroying all of the good bacteria that lives in your vagina allows the yeast to flourish. No one is saying you are literally wiping pieces of poop into your urethra.

I think most people avoid the real "back" at least I know I do. I don't feel clean if I go the other way just doesn't work right to me. I always treat each area seperatly and always use baby wipes for #2.
But anyway, I am Team Front to Back, and am also shocked at how many people do the opposite. Ew, ew, ew.... Always was raised to believe that introduces poopie particles into the va jay jay. Its like embedded in my brain.
"If every word I said, could make you laugh - I'd talk forever".
Round ligament pain is starting to interfere with my front-to-back wiping ability, but I just. can't. change. I will dislocate my shoulder and/or have some sort of wacky surgery to make my arm a foot longer before I give in and go back to front. Can't do it.

There is no possible way you can totally steralize your anus so that you arent wipping remains or bacteria from your bottom to your urethra. Not to mention the bacteria from your vagina alone isnt good for it. This is why it is always recommended to wipe front to back. It is actually very unsanitary at any point during the day to wipe back to front. Your doctor may not have told you this because it hasnt come up. I urge you to ask at your next visit, 10 bucks says she tells you to wipe front to back.
Lol youre taking this way too personally. I honestly dont give a crap (no pun intended) what bacteria youre pushing in to your pee hole, but it is actually unsanitary. If you dont believe us, look it up. If you dont care, more power to you. Wipe away.

I'm one of the few blotters (for #1 only). I think I developed the blotting habit when I was in college and poor and trying to conserve TP. Anyway, if my butt and belly get much bigger, I don't think I'll be able to reach no matter what direction!
Just trying to lighten up a silly post that seems to have taken a very serious turn.

I wipe in a two step process.
I wipe the front and then I either grab new TP or fold and rotate and wipe behind.
