How to list registry on invites?

I registered at Target and Wal-Mart, and about 75% of the items I registered for are online only. I am worried that people won't shop for a gift far enough in advance to purchase anything online or that people in general won't feel comfortable ordering online (I will have a lot of age 60+ women attending my showers).

Is there a way to politely write on the invitation that I am registered "mostly online" or something to that effect?

Re: How to list registry on invites?

  • My invites just said where I was registered. Most of my stuff is online only and I'm registered at Amazon as well. From my experience going to baby showers not a lot of people will buy what you have on your registry anyway.

  • I am in a similar situation.  One of my showers is mostly older women and I know they will not shop online because they do not want to pay for shipping.  I totally understand their reasoning.  I opted to register at two places to help avoid this problem.

I don't think there is a polite way to say "mostly online".  I think you should just be prepared for lots of clothes or gift cards.   If you get gift receipts you can always return the items and use the $ to purchase stuff off of your mostly online registry

  • How about "Jane is registered at Target.com and BabiesRUs.com"?

Although I do question why you chose so many items that were online only if you knew the majority of people buying from your registry wouldn't go online to purchase them. But that's just me and I'm currently riding a pregnancy induced mood where I put it all out there. So don't be offended.

Yes, I agree that you can put registered at "target.com."  If you can, try to find more stuff in the store.  I had a similar problem when I did my BRU registry online... so many things were unavailable!  But then...

Another thing to try is to go to the store and print your registry to see what's there.  Turns out, lots of stuff WAS available in my local store, even though the website said otherwise.   Good luck!

  • I'm registered at BRU, as well as a local Los Angeles store... so on my invites the host put

So and So is registered at

    Babies R Us

    and www.beginningsstore.com

(figuring most people wouldn't want to drive to LA, and would prefer to view that registry online.)

  • You don't EVER list where you are registered on the invites, it is tacky. That is for the whoever is throwing shower to pass along to guests.

People can purchase it and have it shipped to your address and then just give you a card at your shower with a picture of what they ordered to let you know what's coming or something to that affect so they don't have to have ordered it early enough to get it shipped to them and then bring it to the shower.

I know at Target not sure about walmart but i think it is that way for most stores when they go to the store and get your registry it will show the online items as well so its not really necessary to say that you are mostly registered online they will see that for themselves.

I think this is a wedding thing.  Every baby shower invite I've ever received has had the registry store on it.

  • I don't think you are supposed to put where you are registered on the invite either.  the hostess and/or your mum can tell people when/if they ask.
