My son loves his play kitchen (melissa and doug cutting foods are his favorite), he loves his farm animals (the realistic ones, not the fisher price ones), he loves his books (pop-ups are a fave), he loves his cars (again, the more realistic the better).
Books are always a favorite gift in our house. Disney movies (may not be for everyone but we like them), arts and crafts (play doh, crayons, washable markers or paint - may want to check with their mom first on the craft ideas), puzzles, or dress up clothes.
We love love love puzzles especially the Melissa & Doug mini travel ones in the holder it really keeps them busy when we are out places and have to wait.

We love, love, love play-doh and crayola color magic paint. The paint only shows up on special paper and doesn't make a mess!!! It makes finger painting fun and care free. DD seriously loves it and will sit for hours and hours painting!! So much fun!
Step 2 kitchen set; shopping cart (get all plastic ones, Step 2 is good); Fisher Price bus-the ride on one; I know it may seem young, but that is still an all time favorite for my 3.5 year old and my 1.5 year old); dolls for the girl; tricycle
Re: best two year old toy?
