Dried milk on nipples

I've been EPing and my nipples always seem to have a dried milk crust that stays on them even though I wipe them off after every pumping.  I've tried cleaning them gently with a wet wash cloth, but it doesn't help much and it just goes right back to how it was.  Plus they are still really sensitive to touch so I can't rub too hard.  Is this normal?  Any suggestions on how to keep the dried milk off?

Re: Dried milk on nipples

  • Maybe you are leaking when not pumping, so there is a bit dried on there?  Who knows, all I know is that when my nipples were sore in the beginning I would purposely let milk dry on there - worked better than any creams - so I'm no help ;)

  • If you have sore nipples, dry milk may be just the trick! I know it really worked well for me. At the end of each feeding, I would express a drop to rub around the nipple and let it air dry to help with the soreness.
