TTC after 35

Annoying PG girl at work..

I know I have complained before about this annoying pg girl in my office. I just had to bring up some papers to her cubicle. She has pink signs taped up everywhere that say "It's a Girl, Abigail Rose".  Umm, doesn't that sound like she had the baby already and something you would do AFTERWARDS (not that I would do it at all but to each her own). She isn't due until November! I will say she is like 25 and it's her first. I get that she is excited but it seems a bit much to me (or I am just beyond bitter).   These stupid signs have been up since the day she found out it was a girl.

Opinions: over the top or am I just too bitter right now? LOL

  • With my first, we pretty much started calling him by his name after the anatomy scan (19 weeks) when we knew he was a boy.  Now I didn't post anything at my workplace, or constantly talk about it, but if someone was talking to me about the baby, I'd say Carter this or that.  Keep in mind also that I only did this with my friends.  Also with my one friend and sibling that were having difficulty TTC, I kept things to myself.  Being that young the chickie obviously doesn't have any idea about difficulties conceiving (she probably just looked at her so and got ku), so she probably lacks the sensitivity gene at this point.  Sorry you are annoyed....look on the bright side, you only have to put up with it for 3 months or less.  Maybe her payback with be a colicky baby that screams for months on end, you can always hope anyway!Wink

  • Just signs?  You mean she doesn't have pink neon arrows pointing at her belly or pink confetti littering her cubicle floor yet?  She has a ways to go still.. after all she can't JUST have signs up for 3 more months!  Batten down the hatches and be ready for a long rough ride on that baby train.  UGH!

P.S. Was THAT bitter?  Because I think I may be running for mayor of Bitterville very soon.  :)

Ha!  Now that's funny!  I do love that even though we're all on the bitter side, we at least have a sense of humor about it.

I'm sorry that the insensative girl is back at work doing her best to rub it in everyone's face.  Just know that you will have your day too!  I just know that you will!!!!

  • I understand people are excited and all but it seems like what she did is way over the top with the signs with the kids name and everything. Especially, considering she's not due until November. I think what she did is pretty weird and not very professional.

I think she needs to take it down a notch or twenty.

  • I personally think that is way over the top but I know I'm bitter right now so take it with a grain of salt. Sorry you have to deal with her annoying-ness.

  • I'm going to poke my head out from behind the lurker curtain....

I cannot describe to you how much  pregnant people (and those around them) annoy me.  And I'm one of the PG people.

DH and I are in a silent standoff over baby's name, My MIL looked at me like I was growing a horn out of my head when she asked if I had been into Babies R Us yet and I replied, "no"*, the other PG lady in my office building now thinks that we are BFF's and feels free to describe every bodily function that she is having in graphic detail and I'm actually kind of bugged that I can't 'hide' my pregnancy anymore - I liked it when it was my little secret and I could just sit back and enjoy it by myself.

So, McIrish, I promise you that your PG co-worker is annoying, it's not you at all.

22 weeks seems like it has flown by and is taking forever at the same time...if that makes sense.  I think you hit the nail on the head  -  Part of my lack of preparation is that I want less to deal with if things don't go smoothly.  We've had a couple of scares but everything is good for the time being.  The PG over 35 board has been an absolute life saver for me - every other board seems to be filled with, well, for lack of a better word, young people.  They just annoy me to no end.

I've been stalking you and was so thrilled to see that you were starting IVF.  I still lurk around here quite a bit - you guys are rid of me just yet :)

  • McIrish- I would be annoyed with all things baby by young pregnant coworker too!  Although-I do think that this IF journey has made me into a better person.  The things I never know about what other people are going through/have been through!!!  Wish someone had sat me down around age 30 and discussed biological clock, I think that I seriously would have considered IVF to freeze some eggs for future babymaking possibilites.  This post and everyone's responses really made me laugh and thing about how understanding IF has really helped us understand each other and all the craziness that this brings to our lives (philosophical sounding???)

Cheeze-Cann't believe that you are 22 weeks!!! Seems like yesterday that we were sending you congrats.  Glad that you popped in to say hello-you're always welcome to stop in on our board.  Hope that everyone can join you on PG after 35 soon.

  • McIrish, I think she sounds just horrible.  I would want to scream. I very well might scream.

I am shortly going to have my own rant on here (or several) about the fact that I am the direct supervisor of someone much younger than me who is going on maternity leave for a month when she gives birth in October.  I have to hold meetings come September with her when we're back in the office (I mostly work from home over the summers) when she will be 8 months pregnant and so confront her pregnant belly head on; I have to help arrange for her work to be covered; I have to be all delighted and supportive about her pregnancy etc etc etc.  Grant you, this person is NOT doing what your co-worker is.  But she emailed me this news about a month ago (like, right before my IVF cycle), I was like, "of course.  Of course this is happening."

Yes.We are all a little bitter. But that's also a little too much. Your workplace is not a 9-month-long babyshower!

Two of the 9 other women that I work with are pg. One woman is 40 and had no problem at all conceiving. The other was a 'whoops!' pregnancy. The younger one calls in sick once a week. I wish that I had morning sickness! It's all a little much. I understand.

  • Like everyone has said....the bitterness of IF sucks the life out of the "joys of pg". LOL. Yes "they" have the right to be happy, but I really believe that the workplace is not the forum for the joyful news.

After reading this post I tried to think back hmmm....how did I think of pregnant ladies when IF was not "my" issue. I think I have always been slightly bitter to the fact that it was never ME. Even when all of my friends were getting married and I couldn't even get a date...sure I was bitter with the whole wedding thing. So YES whether it is right or not to want to take their signs and *** and bust them up they are your feelings and I know for sure you are not alone.
