What to do with DD1 while in hospital having DD2?

We are moving across the country when I'll be 30 weeks pregnant. Far away from friends and family. I don't know what is going to happen when I have DD2. My Mom will come out probably around my due date, but if we have the baby before that, I don't want DD1 to go to the hospital with us... worst case scenario is DH drops me off and I have the baby by myself? Anyone been through this? We've never left DD with anyone but good friends and family and I don't know anyone within 10 hours of where we'll be living!

I am.  Ds was born last October, he was a micropreemie.  He has a g tube so people just don't volunteer to watch him.  The one person that did has a young daughter and I will be delivering Sept./Oct. (due date Oct. 11th) so it will be RSV and ds can't be around little kids.  Too dangerous for him.

SO, where we deliver ds can be in the room with dh.  There will be a couch and tv so plenty of room.  I also hired a doula for me.  I will be her first actual case, she's getting certified so she's a lot cheaper than a certified doula.  DH couldn't make it in time to the hospital to see ds born, it was a quick labor so he really wants to be there.

I'm having this issue, too. After BFP I had asked a good friend if she would watch DS while H and I go to the hospital when it's time for this one... but she's moving 40 minutes away. So a detour to her house would mean over an hour delay, plus having to trnasfer the carseat. And I'm not sure if she'll have the means to get to the hospital to pick up DS, either. As of now, I'm sadly contemplating having H drop me off at the hospital and maybe ask a friend to stay with me and hold my hand, although I hate to ask H to miss out on that. (That friend doesn't have a kid-friendly house, although she loves kids and would watch him if I asked.)

I don't know... I need to think about this and talk to H to see what he thinks.

I was soooo worried about this the first half of this pregnancy, but it's looking like it'll all work out. DH's parents are retired, so they plan to head down here to take care of her a soon as they get the call - but it will take about 7.5hrs for them to get down here. For the interim, I have a bunch of people lined up to call - 2 mom friends (one I met through a SAHM club, so there's an idea) and others who volunteered that we met at church. I also have a bag packed with stuff for DD1, just in case she ends up going to someone who doesn't have kids (Elmo DVD, PJs/spare clothes, diapers/wipes, infant tylenol, etc), plus her pack n play and a spare car seat are all ready to go.

ETA: I figure, worst case scenario, no one can take her and she'll just have to come to the hospital with us. She WILL be looked after and won't be in any danger, so that's all that matters.

I'm definitely going to be trying to go to some mom's groups in the area once we get settled! I just hope I have enough time to meet people before I have the baby!
