Ugh, gross. Spell it Jackson, and you're on to something, albeit a very popular name. Jaxon is awful. Seriously, do you want your son to someday be a CEO and have to spell his name J-a-x-o-n? I believe names should be timeless, and Jaxon is an awful 2009-current trend. Don't age your kid.
Im using Jaxon because i realllly dislike Jack and i dont want it to be shortened to that.
And ive been trying all night to fix it and it wont let me.
Pronounce "Jaxon." Now pronounce "Jackson." They sound the same, don't they? Only difference is that one looks dumb. If someone is going to shorten it, it's still very likely going to be Jack, because when he says it, people are going to assume it's "Jackson." Might as well make life easier on him.
Jackson and Jaxon sound the same, so unless someone is going to always see your son's name spelled out, they will not know any different. I guarentee it will get shortened to Jack at some point in his life. And he will always have his name spelled incorrectly. Though I instinictively want to pronounce Jaxon (when I see it) as Jacks ON like wax on, wax off, wax on, wax off, more of an emphisis on the last syllable as opposed to a softer ending on Jackson.
Jaxon is awful, sorry. If you want something unique, pick a unique name, don't butcher a VERY popular name with a made-up spelling. Jackson is way too popular for me but it is still a great name- if you like the sound of it- go for the correct spelling!

I'm not a big fan of changing the spelling of names just because. But that's just me. Unfotunately, people will naturally call him Jack even though you may not prefer it. Jack is common and if they hear Jaxon they are thinking Jackson, therefore Jack. So if you really dislike Jack you may want to choose a different name. What about just naming him Jax? I think it's a really cute name by iteself.
If people call him Jack it will be quickly corrected because there is technically no "Jack" in his name. I dont mind Jax as a nickname at all, in fact i love it. Idk i look at Jaxon and Jackson, and i like the first much more. I guess i just like to be different with my name choices and spelling instead of just the typical Jordan and Jackson.
That is why I usually only lurk on this board. People have lots of opinions about names....especially what they consider "made up" or " incorrect spelling". I'm all for honest opinions but some folks are just plain rude. At the end of the day, go with what you and your SO love. FWIW I have a friend who named her son Jaxon and I think it is cute.

Thank you! I agree, im all for opinions, but there is a right way to give it, and only some of these ladies stated theirs in a respectful way. And to say something rude about my first sons name is even worse, his name IS Jordyn. I didnt realize people here are so against unique names, or apparently they are "trendy". Jesus its not like im naming my son Apple.

This exactly!
People have lots of opinions and unfortunately in this case majority are rude! I'm all about "unique" "made up" "misspelled" or for that fact "BEAUTIFUL" names! I love jaxson and I think jax is super cute too! And traci is right, at the end of the day the only peoples opinions who matter, are your own! Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!
I really like Jackson, it's super common, but nice and classic. Jaxon is trendy and not my style. However it is easy to say/spell.
FWIW, your choices are not unique or different. Jordyn is ranked #112 on SSA (it is much more commonly thought of as the feminine spelling) and Jordan on the boy list is #46. Jaxon is ranked #99 and it's the most popular spelling of Jackson w/ an x, second to Jaxson. Jackson is #25, super popular and essentially the same name as Jaxon.

You want people to give their opinions but then get upset when they do? Most of the ladies were being nice in how they posted their distaste. If you didn't want honest opinions, don't ask for them. FWIW, I am not a fan of Jaxon, though I think it's better than a male Jordyn.

FWIW I didn't say anything rude or disrespectful about your son Jordyn. I wanted clarification if he was a boy or girl due to the spelling. I couldn't submise his gender since the Y is usually thrown in a name to 'girl it up' and the mn Scott I was thinking might have been your maiden name, thus why the need to girl-ify Jordan to be more girly for a girl.
I gave an honest opinion about Jaxon, and if you went trendi with one, you might as well go trendi with both.
If I was going to be rude and disrepectful, I could be... very much so.
Go with whichever spelling you prefer. The only time someone is going to see the spelling is when its written down on paper. Its kinda like with Sarah and Sara. Its the same name when it comes out of someone's mouth. It's really just a personal preference

Is Jordyn a boy or girl? I've seen it only spelled with a y to make Jordan (the boy name) more girly.
but, as to your question. Please spell it Jackson. However since you went trendi with your first's name- might as well mess up Jackson too.

Not a fan of Jaxon at all... or Jackson for that matter, but if I had to and wanted that unique spelling, I would do:
Jaxson
imo, Jaxon goes better with Jordyn.
Although I'd obviously prefer Jackson and Jordan, we can't win 'em all, ladies.

TERRIBLE spelling... an X does not make the same sound as *CKS*. If you are going to use the name, just spell it correctly.
I just don't understand people who misspell names, seriously it's ridiculous.
So when you said you were seeking opinions you really meant validation?
Sorry, hon.
Terrible name.

omglmao!!!
Making the statement that i might as well mess up Jackson as well insinuates that i messed up my first sons name, am i wrong??
My point is, say you dislike it, but the "ew's", and the "grosses", and all the other extremely rude comments are unnecessary.
This.
