Switching to front facing car seats

So my older son will be 2 in September.  My hope had been to keep both boys RF until the younger one is at least 2.  But the older one is starting to protest the rear facing car seat and his legs are really starting to get squished.  Now I'm just hoping to get to the first one's second birthday before turning him. 

How have you handled one being rear facing and the other being front facing?  Does the younger one seem to care or cause problems?  Do they like being able to see each other?

I was thinking about this too. Ds1 doesn't mind rear facing so far but I'll bet they are going to love seeing each other. Ds2 already leans way forward in his carseat to see ds1. My question is who gets to watch sesame street on the iPad on long trips. How will that work?

Aagh! Your ds1 is like one week younger than mine but your ds2 is about 1 week older than my ds2. Thats crazy. What do you say the end of December, early January are abstinence weeks. Hahahaha no we'll probably go for number 3 but I never never want to be that pregnant through the entire summer again!

We turned DS around when he was just over 2 - like your DS, his legs were getting squished, and he would fight getting into his seat.  

DD doesn't seem to notice - they do like looking at each other, and often reach over to try to touch hands, but they can't actually reach.  DD does get a bit fussy when we are driving for a long time, but I think she would do that regardless.
